Filter gallery by button

Hi,

I am new to Power Apps. I have four buttons with the following text. 1. Open 2. In progress 3. On hold 4. Completed.

I have a SharePoint list with a lookup column Status (Open, In progress, On hold, Completed) for our work orders.

I am looking to use the buttons to filter my gallery by Status. Also when opening the app I would like the gallery to only show Open work orders. If there aren't any open work orders it must show the text "no work orders: open". The same if you click on for example on the button "In progress". It must then filter the gallery by work orders that are In progress, if there aren't any the gallery must show the text "no work order: in progress".

I hope this info is clear and you can help me out with the code or how to go about this.

Hi @pketeldijk ,

Set a Variable on each button (call it whatever you want - I have used vFilter)

On Open button

UpdateContext({vFilter:"Open"})

and so on for the rest

At screen OnVisible, put

UpdateContext({vFilter:Blank()})

The Items on the gallery would be something like

If(
   IsBlank(vFilter),
   YourListName,
   Filter(
      YourListName,
      Status=vFilter
   )
)

Hi, I have almost the same issue, but I need to filter on Blank values in the Gallery. I've created a button for Blanks and tried this workaround. How to make the variable work for blanks?

I have followed the solution in this thread to a T (i think), but I can't get my gallery to load anything on the page, and I get an error that my formula is wrong. 

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with this?

If(IsBlank(vFilter), 'DC Stakeholders', Filter('DC Stakeholders', SHSector=vFilter))

Sharepoint list I'm pulling data from is DC Stakeholders and the Column I want to filter by is called SHSector

I have 5 buttons that pass a variable with the following code.

UpdateContext({vFilter:"Association"})

and the screen onVisible is set to:

UpdateContext({vFilter:Blank()})

Appreciate someone pointing me to the error of my ways, as I have tried to sort this to no avail. Thanks

I have the filters working but how do I reset the gallery to display everything.  I want everything to show when I come to the screen and then filter like you described, but I need to also be able to reset the gallery as well after the filtering.

Here is my gallery 

I want all items to be displayed when you come to the screen, currently with your solution it is blank. Each of the button to the side filter the gallery (Calendar) based on the On Select, which works great.

I need to be able to reset it back after the Reset Calendar button is clicked, however because of the On Visible I am not able to do it.

Here is what is on my Gallery Items Property:

Filter(
        'Calendar @Grant',
        'Start Time' < ThisItem.NextDay And 'End Time' >= ThisItem.Value    
)

This does not include your code as I reset it back to normal until I can get this resolved.  Thank you for your help.

hi everyone,

I want to filter my gallery by date when you click on a button.

I have two buttons (button 1 for today's date, button 2 for upcoming date). When you select on button 1 it should filter for today's date and when you select on button 2 it should filter for upcoming date.

how I fix this.
