Filtering Gallery with TextInput and RadioButton

Hello! I am having a horrible time getting my gallery filter to work. Each filter works separately, but I can't get them to work together.

I have connected my Sharepoint list (KCL SRP 2023_1) with the gallery. I want to be able to filter using both the radio button selection by itself and the combination of the radio button selection and any text entered in the First Name text input.

This is my final version of the combined filters: Filter('KCL SRP 2023_1', StartsWith(ReadersFirstName,FirstNameFilter.Text), RadioBranches.Selected.Value="See All", 'KCL SRP 2023_1',LibraryBranch=RadioBranches.Selected.Value)  There are no errors on the screen, but it doesn't do anything when I preview it. I have changed my data row limit to 2000. Right now I only have 6-8 records entered and I will end up with a total of about 1000.

KCL SRP 2023_1 is the sharepoint list

ReadersFirstName and LibraryBranch are the sharepoint list columns

FirstNameFilter is the text input box

RadioBranches is the radio button control

Separately, the StartsWith and the RadioBranches filters work. Can someone help me combine them? Thank you!!

Couple of questions for you.

Did you try the "||" operator or Or function instead of providing multiple filter criteria?

Like

Filter('KCL SRP 2023_1', StartsWith(ReadersFirstName,FirstNameFilter.Text) || RadioBranches.Selected.Value="See All" || LibraryBranch=RadioBranches.Selected.Value)

I am working on using your suggestion. The second formula is making sense, I had tried that but had the Or in the wrong place- I am getting an error now that says Incompatible Types for Comparison. These types can't be compared: Record, Text. Any ideas on how to fix that?

It's pointing to this part of the formula: (StartsWith(ReadersFirstName,SearchFirstName.Text) -this is a text input field on the list and on the powerapps screen.

Readersfirstname is text. RadioBranch is a choice column on the share point list, radio buttons on power apps.

I have put together a short sample (see attached). Will this work for you?

If I understand you correctly you want to be able to search for Person by name while selecting a Branch.

You would like to skip the Branch in the filter if the Radio button has "See All" selected. In my case, the option is named "All branches"

Amazing! The error went away and I can now click on a branch and filter that branch's records using the starts with filter.

The only piece I'm missing is filtering when See All is selected. In that circumstance, it would skip the branch filter and simply search all the records using the starts with criteria or show all records if the starts with input field is blank. If I click See All right now, there are no records returned in the gallery and it doesn't filter if I type in a first letter that I know is in the records.

Can you help me add that last piece? Thank you so much!

It worked! 🙂 I went back through and double-checked what I had substituted in your text for titles, names etc., and found one place where I had made an error.

I have one more question - how would I tell the gallery to sort by the First Name column in ascending order? I can do it without the filters, but I'm unsure of how to add that into the filter text. Just a constant ascending order sort. Thanks!
