Filtering a view in model driven apps

Hi there, 

I have an subgrid like below : 

This is on a form and as you are going across the tabs and you save it up - you get a row added with a project name. 

This subgrid is based on another table but there is a relationship between Project Issues (on the subgrid) and the project table - i need the subgrid to show the project issues but filtered on the project name. 

This is the filter i have on the subgrid view - i want it to show Project ID but that has to be from the record you are viewing on the app. 

I know its basic but I cannot seem to figure it out.

Hi @boris2 ,

The setting you are looking for is not in the view, but on the subgrid component:

If you edit the form and select the subgrid, you'll have to option to enable the Show related records setting which will only show the related risks to the selected row.

@BCBuizer - hi thats great and i seen this but this means that the record needs to be saved prior - which makes sense - becasue the grid doesnt show if there isnt any records - thats what i have noticed. 

So how do i create a row then so it displays and i can add a row in ? So what i am triyng to say is that there has to be row in the grid for it to be shown if i click that button ? But i want to use a grid to create a record and its not shown if there isnt anything in the table ?

I'm not sure what it is you are asking, so let me try to explain how this works based of the example I gave earlier:

There are two tables: MaintenanceLogs and Locations. The MaintenanceLogs table has a LookUp column to the Locations table. When rows get created in the MaintenanceLogs table, the user selects a possible value in the Location column. When viewing the above form for the Locations table, the subgrid will show all related MaintenanceLogs rows for the selected Location row. If no rows exist in the MaintenanceLogs table that are related to the selected row in the Location tabel, the subgrid will appear empty. If the user wants, there is the option to create a row in the MaintenanceLogs table, related to the selected row in the Locations table, by clicking the New Maintenance log button on the subgrid:
