Form behavior with SharePoint List connector

Hello,

I'm currently working on an app which  basically allows users to create tickets. As there might be a lot of tickets I couldn't use Excel and migrated to Sharepoint due to row limitation. (Basically using Sharepoint as a database)

The app is made of forms which allow to create/edit tickets.

When i create a new ticket using the creation form the Sharepoint List that stores this info does not update.

This is why I'm wondering what type of interactions does the app have with Sharepoint? (what i've seen so far makes me think it's a Read-Only mode)

I have tried doing some research on this issue but I only see the Powerapps Integration to Sharepoint which isn't what I'm looking for.

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

The most I can tell you is that PowerApps cant deal with millions of lines.

If you can't update your data, that can mean 2 things :

- You have too many rows (by the way I think an Excel file can have more data than a list, no ?)

- You haven't rights to update your data in your list

I hope I helped you

Sorry for my English

@Anonymous

- You have too many rows (by the way I think an Excel file can have more data than a list, no ?)

At the moment I have a very light database since I'm developping the app (less than 20 rows in each list)

Unfortunatelly due to the limitations of PowerApps he cannot treat more than 500 rows in an Excel (2000 in experimental). This is why I switched to sharepoint which allows Powerapps to delegates its search functions. Instead of Powerapps doing the research he just sends the search informations to Sharepoint which sends back the results.

- You haven't rights to update your data in your list

New rows are created but they are empty this is why I don't really get why it would be rights (I assume if Powerapps can create a line he can also add data to the created line?)

Thank you for your time!

(Btw your english is pretty good don't excuse yourself for speaking at least two languages :P)

How did you create your app: is it a standalone app or did you use the "customize forms" feature from within the sharepoint list?

What is the code for the submit button to save the record? Submitform(formname), or patch(...)? Please post the specific command that the button uses to submit.

I created it as a standalone app.

What is the code for the submit button to save the record? Submitform(formname), or patch(...)? Please post the specific command that the button uses to submit.

The form I'm submitting (Form 1) is in Edit mode  and I use Submitform(Form1)

The submit seems to go successfully? And, there are no other actions after the submit, such as navigating to a different screen? But the SharePoint list simply doesn't get the new row?

The first screen which is my "home" allows you to create or modify older tickets. To create a new ticket you simply press a button which brings the user to a newscreen. here is the full fuction:

Refresh(basefa) ;; ClearCollect(SPbasefa; basefa.idfa) ;; Set(lastidfa;Last(SPbasefa)) ;; Set(varidfa; lastidfa) ;;  NewForm(Form1) ;; SubmitForm(Form1);; Navigate(AjoutFA; ScreenTransition.Fade) ;; NewForm(FormDefaut_1) ;; NewForm(FormProduit_1) ;; NewForm(FormAnomalie_1) ;; NewForm(FormCauseHypo_1) ;; NewForm(FormCorrection_1) ;; NewForm(FormAction_1) ;; NewForm(FormFTR_1)

basefa is the Sharepointlist where the general ticket information ios stored, idfa is the column which corresponds to each ticket's ID, lastidfa and varidfa allow me to get the last id and increment it by 1, Form1 is the form which allows me to submit the new ticket ID (in case multiple users create  one in a short time) to the database (here the basefa SP list) before moving to the next screen, AjoutFA is the screen where the new ticket is created, all the NewForms are a way to set by default all the forms on AjoutFA to New mode.

If the code's characters such as ";" seem weird to use, my powerapps is by default in French and this is how we have to code it.

Once I press the button the Form1 uses the right ID then moves to the new screen but here is the result in sharepoint:powerappsassist.PNG

The blue marked line is the one created when pressing the button th black one is the ones that already existed.

Basically for every form that i use in the standalone app all it does is create an empty line in the corresponding sharepoint list

Hopefully this was detailed enough, thanks again for your help

More info on the issue:

I created a standalone app to which I added some Sharepoint Lists as Datasources. Just like I would do for Excel tables I created some forms to create and edit lines. Here is where my problems pop up : the line gets created but is empty and I can't edit any lines.

Am I missing something to be able to freely edit the sharepoint lists like you would do with Excel tables?
