Form doesn't display text field value in view mode

Hello,

I have a basic SharePoint form that contains one drop-down field that pulls values from a different SharePoint list. This drop-down field is functioning exactly as intended. I have a another text field in which the default value is the selected value of that drop-down field. The text field displays the correct selection in the SharePoint list but doesn't seem to show it in the form. In my form, when it's in view mode the visibility of the drop-down field is set to false and the text field replaces that with the previously selected choice. The text field just doesn't show the value for some reason. Any thoughts on why this could be happening? Please let me know which property/code I should share for guidance. I'd be greatly appreciative.

sure can, should I delete the Meeting Dates field and re-add it? I don't know if that will work.

Okay this is what happens when I deleted and re-added the field @itzRobin 

This could work but I only want short date format to show. The reason I'm going to these great lengths is because I wanted to filter the dates to only show future meeting dates. Since I was unable to find a solution to do that with a lookup column/field, I was able to achieve the filtering by adding a drop-down input (dropdown 1) and then I thought I could copy that into a text field to bypass/replace the lookup column/field. If that makes sense.

Use Text function on Default property to change the format to ShortDate for MeetingsDate  DataCardValue/your new reference field

Ex: Text(ThisItem. Date,”dd/mm/yyyy”)

Hi @MN003 ,

Try this for the Default property of DataCardValue2:

Coalesce(
   Parent.Default,
   Dropdown1.Selected.StartDate
)

This will try to pull the value from the data source (Parent.Default) or if that's blank, from Dropdown1.
