Form fields displaying Item 1, Item 2 etc instead of correct options

I am having an odd issue and I cannot work out why it is happening. I have an edit form (SP List data source) on one screen which is working perfectly fine. However when I insert a second edit form onto another screen (same data source) all choice and people columns/fields incorrectly display "item 1, item 2 etc" instead of the correct dropdown list items/person search field.

I am confused as to how come the same fields work correctly on one screen but not the other? I have tried both copying the and pasting the form and inserting a brand new one on the second screen but neither worked correctly. I have also tried to add the Defaults ('List name') formula to the Items in the second form but this also hasn't fixed the issue. I have noticed when I add a formula to one of the fields it seems to refresh and display the correct options, but not sure why that is the case?

What is the best way for me to diagnose what the issue is here?

It's not temporary, I've had PowerPlatform support confirm it's a verified bug and the product team is investigating it.

So far what seems to work as a manual fix is one of below (these are 3 different fixes to try, not a 3 step process):

  • unlock the data card and change field property RESET to TRUE
  • remove @ and [] from the items property, eg. instead of Choices(@[TestList1.Choice]) do Choices(TestList1.Choice)
  • delete data card, delete data source, add data source, reconnect form, add data card

After further tinkering I managed to solve the issue for the dropdowns by changing Reset to true, and the people fields by following this solution.

Does anyone know why the first form was inserted correctly but the second had all of the above issues? Same steps taken and same data source.

I am facing the exact same issue! It's bizzare. Where do these values come from?

The data card is set to default settings, and has proper Choices(Column) set in the Items field.

I've tried removing the data source completely and adding it again, and refreshing the data - no effect.

Refreshing the data source didn't help me either, must be some sort of bug. The solution I posted above helped me but beyond that not sure what else to do or why it's happening.

Hi @Power_Automater ,

It may be a temporary problem, I've only seen many similar posts in the past few days.

Maybe you could try the following two methods.

1. For Combo Box(Choice Column) Control:

Cut and paste the formula for the combo box.

Or

vyujincuimsft_1-1661931670004.png2. For Combo Box(Person or Group Column) Control:

Cut and paste the formula for the combo box.

Or

Same issue Here.....   Not sure how to fix or if we have to wait on Microsoft based off of the previous posts...   This should be displaying Pass or Fail as set by the choices in the List that was created.

I didn't quite understand this part - "

  • delete data card, delete data source, add data source, reconnect form, add data card", can you pls elaborate. thanks

delete data source from? you mean the connection . after applying steps 1 and 2, why deleting the datacard on the 3rd step

Those are three alternative workarounds, not a three step process. Each one fixes the issue, but may work or not depending on the app setup so I listed all of them from easiest to most annoying.
