Formula Bar Copilot

Hello community!

I'm starting this thread as a discussion post and feedback mechanism for our new and upcoming Copilot features that are used in the Formula Bar, beginning with Studio version 24043.  Feel free to provide feedback here or in Studio by using the thumbs up/down voting.  We do look at those, and since we don't actively store any of the Copilot queries, it is extremely valuable when you share the prompt and error messages with us.  If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Features:

  • Explain a formula - In Production / Generally Available
  • Create from Comments - In Preview / Gradually rolling out to US tenants

UPDATE: Issues impacting EU regions have been resolved and the functionality is now enabled again.

Original Post:

Unfortunately, my first announcement is that we are aware of a potential issue impacting Europe.  We are investigating and will resolve and/or update soon.

Hello @wbryant-msft ,

How would we be able to enable the new copilot features for Power FX to our Dev environment?

Thanks.

The formula explanation is available now, and shows up as a copilot button in the formula bar.  There are a few prerequisites that are listed in the documentation, such as needing to use the new formula bar (available from app settings), having copilot enabled in your environment and tenant settings, and using English as your browser and platform language setting.  It is also currently disabled for EU region environments due to the issue mentioned above, and I will update that post once the fix goes live and it is enabled for EU.  If you think you've met these patterns and are still having issues, let me know!

My apologies, I should have mentioned that I've followed the steps in your link prior. By default, the Power FX formula bar is toggled to On.

I just restarted my device not too long ago and open up power apps again and co-pilot is there now. Not sure why I had to do that for it to work (I also cleared cookies and opened up a new browser prior to restarting my device).

Well, it is working now. Thanks @wbryant-msft !!

Hello @wbryant-msft and community! 🙂,

For those who hadn't seen it, I supported the Copilot: Explain a formula feature in my LinkedIn post here:

https://www.linkedin.com/posts/heuristicdev_powerplatform-canvasapps-powerfx-activity-71910022561570...

Feedback was provided in the comments on my post that the explanation was a bit too literal right now, and that it would be better if it was given some more context and asked to explain what the formula is likely trying to achieve.

@wbryant-msft kindly replied to our exchange, advising that with concerns around data privacy, we can’t see the prompt or response for most of the calls.  Warren suggested that an option could be added to include the promot if it is something you can share.

If you also think that this would be a good idea, please use the thumb up option against this response.  If you don't then do use the thumb down, but please also provide an explanation as well in comments, so we can understand why.

Many thanks for your engagement and feedback on this topic in advance!

This is still not available, despite Power Fx formula being on and Copilot is turned on the for the tenant and in the Power Platform Environment.  Anything else to be checking?

@WiredForSound - I've noticed when I reboot my laptop it starts to populate.

Then, sometimes when I exit out all of my windows, the Co-Pilot button disappears when I open them back up.

Sorry, this is not a real solution but more of a heads-up kind of deal.

Thanks for the heads up.  I'll give that a shot.  Just nice to know I'm not the only one having issues with it.  🙂
