Gallery Submit Button Visibility Based on Required and Dependent Fields

I'm encountering an issue with making a submit button visible in my Power Apps gallery based on the completion of required and dependent fields.

I have a gallery named "MyGallery" where each item contains several fields. I want the submit button to be visible only when all required fields are filled out for each item, and dependent fields are filled out according to the value of another field called "Function".

Here's the code I've tried so far:

If(
    CountRows(
        Filter(
            NewSubmissionGallery.AllItems,
        IsBlank(ThisRecord.TeamDropdown.Selected.Value) || IsBlank(ThisRecord.HourComboBox.Selected.Value) || IsBlank(ThisRecord.DateforSubmission.SelectedDate) || IsBlank(ThisRecord.SubTeamDropdown.Selected.'IRR Team')
        || (ThisRecord.FunctionDropdown.Selected.'Function Name' = "Projects" && IsBlank(ThisRecord.ProjectNameDropdown.Selected.'Project Name'))
        || (ThisRecord.FunctionDropdown.Selected.'Function Name' = "Other/Admin" && IsBlank(ThisRecord.OtherAdminDropdown.Selected.Value))
        || ((ThisRecord.FunctionDropdown.Selected.'Function Name' = "Review" && IsBlank(ThisRecord.ReviewNameDropdown.Selected.'Combined Test Plan Name') || IsBlank(ThisRecord.ReviewActivitiyDropdown.Selected.Title)))
        )
    ) = 0 ,
    true,false)

I tried adding in ThisRecord as I might have multiple items in the gallery that need to have the required / dependent fields populated in each. Everything seems to work for one record, but not multiple. Any thoughts would be appreciate it!

I should also call out that the "Function Name" dropdown has other values, but those that are in the code above are the only ones with dependent fields. (i.e., Function = Reviews, then Review Name and Review Activity need to be filled out, Function = Projects, then project name needs to be filled out, and similar for Other/Admin).

Hi @Skiroy ,

Please try the below:

Not(
	true in ForAll(
		NewSubmissionGallery.AllItems As _Submissions,
		IsBlank(_Submissions.TeamDropdown.Selected.Value) ||
		IsBlank(_Submissions.HourComboBox.Selected.Value) ||
		IsBlank(_Submissions.DateforSubmission.SelectedDate) ||
		IsBlank(_Submissions.SubTeamDropdown.Selected.'IRR Team') ||
		(_Submissions.FunctionDropdown.Selected.'Function Name' = "Projects" && IsBlank(_Submissions.ProjectNameDropdown.Selected.'Project Name')) ||
		(_Submissions.FunctionDropdown.Selected.'Function Name' = "Other/Admin" && IsBlank(_Submissions.OtherAdminDropdown.Selected.Value)) ||
		(
			(_Submissions.FunctionDropdown.Selected.'Function Name' = "Review" && IsBlank(_Submissions.ReviewNameDropdown.Selected.'Combined Test Plan Name') ||
			_Submissions(ThisRecord.ReviewActivitiyDropdown.Selected.Title))
		)
	)
)

Thanks for the code, I think the only thing we might be missing is that there are other functions other than "Projects", "Other/Admin", and "Reviews", and Function is a required field. How would we account for those other options, knowing that the only dependent dropdowns are on the projects, other/admin, and reviews?

Also, I had to add in an IsBlank to your last review activity statement.

Hi @Skiroy ,

I have added some placeholders in the below formula to show the pattern to follow, although I thought you had already figured that out, based on the conditions you posted so far:

Not(
	true in ForAll(
		NewSubmissionGallery.AllItems As _Submissions,
		IsBlank(_Submissions.TeamDropdown.Selected.Value) ||
		IsBlank(_Submissions.HourComboBox.Selected.Value) ||
		IsBlank(_Submissions.DateforSubmission.SelectedDate) ||
		IsBlank(_Submissions.SubTeamDropdown.Selected.'IRR Team') ||
		(_Submissions.FunctionDropdown.Selected.'Function Name' = "Projects" && IsBlank(_Submissions.ProjectNameDropdown.Selected.'Project Name')) ||
		(_Submissions.FunctionDropdown.Selected.'Function Name' = "Other/Admin" && IsBlank(_Submissions.OtherAdminDropdown.Selected.Value)) ||
		(
			(_Submissions.FunctionDropdown.Selected.'Function Name' = "Review" && IsBlank(_Submissions.ReviewNameDropdown.Selected.'Combined Test Plan Name') ||
			IsBlank(_Submissions.ReviewActivitiyDropdown.Selected.Title))
		) ||
		(_Submissions.FunctionDropdown.Selected.'Function Name' = [Value] && IsBlank(_Submissions.[ControlName.ValueProperty])) ||
		(_Submissions.FunctionDropdown.Selected.'Function Name' = [Value] && IsBlank(_Submissions.[ControlName.ValueProperty]))
	)
)

Basically, how this works is by using the ForAll function to loop through all item in the NewSubmissionsGallery to check against the conditions. This will return a single column table containing a boolean value for each row. Since the conditions have been formulated to return a true value for an undesired outcome, we want to make sure there is no true value in that table. Since that last part is a condition in itself, it will return a boolean which is what is expected by the Visible property, so the formula can end there.

Hey @BCBuizer !

Thanks for the continued responses. Seeing how those three fields are the only ones with dependent fields associated with them. To account for any other potential "Function" as it just needs to have a value but doesn't have a dependent value, could it go something like :

(_Submissions.FunctionDropdown.Selected.'Function Name' <> "Projects" || "Other/Admin" || "Review" && !isblank(_Submissions.FunctionDropdown.Selected.'Function Name)

Otherwise, I have 13 other potential selections within "Function" that would need to be accounted for individually and do not force a user to enter a dependent field.
i.e.,

_Submissions.FunctionDropdown.Selected.'Function Name' = "Plan Mgmt" ||
_Submissions.FunctionDropdown.Selected.'Function Name' = "Procurement Team"||
etc. etc.

Hi @Skiroy ,

From what you describe, all you wish to prevent is that the FunctionDropown has not been selected. For that you don't have to add exceptions for the options that have related fields:

Not(
	true in ForAll(
		NewSubmissionGallery.AllItems As _Submissions,
		IsBlank(_Submissions.TeamDropdown.Selected.Value) ||
		IsBlank(_Submissions.HourComboBox.Selected.Value) ||
		IsBlank(_Submissions.DateforSubmission.SelectedDate) ||
		IsBlank(_Submissions.SubTeamDropdown.Selected.'IRR Team') ||
		IsBlank(_Submissions.FunctionDropdown.Selected.'Function Name') ||
		(_Submissions.FunctionDropdown.Selected.'Function Name' = "Projects" && IsBlank(_Submissions.ProjectNameDropdown.Selected.'Project Name')) ||
		(_Submissions.FunctionDropdown.Selected.'Function Name' = "Other/Admin" && IsBlank(_Submissions.OtherAdminDropdown.Selected.Value)) ||
		(
			(_Submissions.FunctionDropdown.Selected.'Function Name' = "Review" && IsBlank(_Submissions.ReviewNameDropdown.Selected.'Combined Test Plan Name') ||
			IsBlank(_Submissions.ReviewActivitiyDropdown.Selected.Title))
		)
	)
)

@BCBuizer

I appreciate all your assistance! The latest example worked with one small tweak. I needed the && in the very last statement as both the ReviewName and the ReviewActivity needed to be completed if Function Name = Review

Not(
	true in ForAll(
		NewSubmissionGallery.AllItems As _Submissions,
		IsBlank(_Submissions.TeamDropdown.Selected.Value) ||
		IsBlank(_Submissions.HourComboBox.Selected.Value) ||
		IsBlank(_Submissions.DateforSubmission.SelectedDate) ||
		IsBlank(_Submissions.SubTeamDropdown.Selected.'IRR Team') ||
		IsBlank(_Submissions.FunctionDropdown.Selected.'Function Name') ||
		(_Submissions.FunctionDropdown.Selected.'Function Name' = "Projects" && IsBlank(_Submissions.ProjectNameDropdown.Selected.'Project Name')) ||
		(_Submissions.FunctionDropdown.Selected.'Function Name' = "Other/Admin" && IsBlank(_Submissions.OtherAdminDropdown.Selected.Value)) ||
		(
			(_Submissions.FunctionDropdown.Selected.'Function Name' = "Review" && IsBlank(_Submissions.ReviewNameDropdown.Selected.'Combined Test Plan Name') &&
			IsBlank(_Submissions.ReviewActivitiyDropdown.Selected.Title))
		)
	)
)

Thank you again!

Hi @Skiroy ,

That part I copied from the formula in your opening post, but I'm happy to read things are now working as expected.
