Global variable containing E-Mails from SharePoint

Hi Team,

I read all the information I could find here on the community to this subject but it was not helping my question I have.

How can I set up a global variable that contains the E-Mail address published in a Card that contains data from a SharePoint list.

I have a button with following query: OnSelect: Set(SelectedEmail, 'E-Mail_value'); Navigate(StatusChanged)

On the screen StatusChanged is another button, that when clicked, published something in the SharePoint list, and send a mail to the requestor, which email address should have been saved in the global variable then bring the user back to the Home screen.

The query on this button is this: SubmitForm('Q&A_Form_answer'); Office365Outlook.SendEmailV2('SelectedEmail', "Subject", "text body") Navigate('Q&A Answer Screen without Gallery')

But I get this error:

Invalid argument type (Control). Expecting a text value instead

I also tried to test the outcome of the variabe in a Label but the error I've receive then is: Expected Text value

Checking the Variable in PowerApp I see this:

PowerAutobot_0-1690212302806.png

I think that looks correct?

Can someone give me a hand in this?

Thank you for your time

Hi @PowerAutobot

If 'E-Mail_value' is a control such as a text input control or label, this would result in the error that you're seeing (Invalid argument type (Control). Expecting a text value instead).

The solution in this instance is to reference the 'text' property.

OnSelect: Set(SelectedEmail, 'E-Mail_value'.Text)

Hi Timl,

thank you for your time and answer. I tried your solution and unfortunately it was not working.

Using the .Text produces this error message:

PowerAutobot_0-1690284809110.png

Button:

PowerAutobot_1-1690284809112.png

Error message on the button:

PowerAutobot_2-1690284809114.png

Just to clear things.

The card containing the email address has no "Text" option, only "HtmlText":

PowerAutobot_3-1690284809118.png

The properties for that value part (the email address) are showing this:

PowerAutobot_4-1690284809120.png

For the button I have changed on OnSelect now to that query:

PowerAutobot_5-1690284809121.png

With that, the error message on the Send button is gone.

I want that a second screen opens (StatusChange) when the Responder clicks the Send button, where the Responder then gets asked, if he really wants to sent his answer now.

Being transferred to the second screen, there is the "Yes" button, containing that query OnSelect:

PowerAutobot_6-1690284809121.png

The "Yes" Button:

PowerAutobot_7-1690284809122.png

The error message:

PowerAutobot_8-1690284809125.png

Checking the value of the global variable in a label shows nothing:

PowerAutobot_9-1690284809127.png

Which I do not want but seems correct as I get this:

PowerAutobot_10-1690284809128.png

Runing the App anyway and clicking the "Yes" button produces an error:

PowerAutobot_11-1690284809129.png

Entering in the OnSelect a hard-coded Email address the App runs flawless by sending the Email to the entered email address:

PowerAutobot_12-1690284809130.png

I tried to follow the instruction from zmansuri he posted here in 2021:

https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Power-Apps/Office365Outlook-SendEmailV2-failed-status-4...

explaining that if the Data are coming from SharePoint the query would be different:

PowerAutobot_13-1690284809131.png

But the button stopped working with that message:

PowerAutobot_14-1690284809134.png

So all of this is rather confusing...

Hope it is not too much explanation.

Thank you for your time again.

Is there no solution for my problem or does someone know another source where my issue could get checked? Any helping advice is highly welcome.

Thank you
