In case you must grant permission for the specific SharePoint List only and not inherit from the site or not grant permission to the whole SharePoint Site but only grant permission on granular level to that person to the specific SharePoint List only, here is how to do it:

1. Go to the SharePoint Site you want that contains the SharePoint List for which you want to grant the permission in a granular way.

2. Go to Site Contents, then hover over the List you want, then click on the three dots (ellipses)

3. From dropdown menu which appears click on "Settings"

4. Click "Permissions for this list"

5. Click on "Stop Inheriting Permissions"

6. Click OK when shown this prompt

"You are about to create unique permissions for this list. Changes made to the parent site permissions will no longer affect this list."

7. Click "Grant Permissions"

8. Notice this screen:

9. On the top textbox, type in the name of who you want to invite, and then click them from the dropdown once you see them appear.

10. Optionally, to customize the permission levels, click SHOW OPTIONS

11. Click on the dropdown list to expand it.

You can check here on this guide to see if it helps you:

Customize SharePoint site permissions - docs.microsoft.com

Also try these steps in case they help:

1. Go to<<yoursite>>.sharepoint.com

2. If needed, click the home icon on left side of page:

poweractivate_1-1658558764479.png

3. Click the Site that contains the List. In my example suppose I am looking for Site03

poweractivate_2-1658558810837.png

If you know the name of the site and it does not show up here, you can manually navigate to

https://<<yoursitehere>>.sharepoint.com/sites/YourSiteName

If you know the Site URL you can just navigate here instead of these first 3 steps.

4. Click on upper right where it says "X member(s)"

poweractivate_0-1658558665038.png

(If it is not showing up right away and you only see "Private group", wait 10 to 60 seconds just in case, and it may show up after you wait)

5. Click on "Add member(s)"

poweractivate_3-1658559009394.png

6. Start typing a name in this field:

7. Once you find the right person in the dropdown that appears, click on the correct person from the dropdown:

poweractivate_5-1658559131018.png

8. Repeat Step 7 again to add additional people.

9. When finished, press on Save for the changes to take effect.

10. Check if the issue is resolved.
