Help! Network error when using Patch function: The requested operation is invalid.

Hello, I am new to PowerApps. I am building a simple app to scan UPS & FedEx barcodes to a SharePoint List at work. 

My App is build like this:

Date Drop Down

Receiver Name Drop Down (Only 2 names)

Carrier Name Drop Down (Only 2)

Scan Button

Collection Space for Scanned items

Notes/TextInput field

Then a clear form and Submit & Save Button. 

When the Submit Button is hit - the error "Network error when using Patch function: The requested operation is invalid." appears in the app. 

Here is my patch formula (I feel like I am missing a .value or .text, but when I enter those, it get errors again in formula):

I set up my sharepoint list to match (Date Field, Receiver Name Choice Field, Carrier Choice Field, Tracking Number Text Field, and Text field for notes). 

I can not get this to work and update sharepoint. The sample sharepoint I attached was a test list I manually made.

@LaurensM Unfortunately, those 2 dropdown fields aren't going into the fields. 

Also, the TrackingNumber field merges more than 1 barcode as 1. No separator:

To answer your questions:

(1) The Tracking Number has no separator because it is not defined in your code (look at my previous Concat function with , Char(10) at the end) - The last (third) parameter is the separator. Your Concat currently has no separator, which results in one long string. The separator is fully free to choose e.g. Concat(colScannedItems, ScannedItem, "; ") or Concat(colScannedItems, ScannedItem, Char(10))

(2) I expect the issue to be that no selection has been made within the app. The text within the dropdown is light gray, which reminds me of the InputTextPlaceholder property. Could it be that no selection was made within the app and it is just displaying the Input Placeholder?

If you want to automatically select the first item, change the DefaultSelectedItems property to First(Choices(ReceivingScannerUPSFedEx.FieldName)) - with FieldName refering to the actual column name of that dropdown.

1). The separator worked, TY

2). The text isn't gray, it is there on the drop down. I tested the app via desktop with app given tracking numbers (seen below) and also on my phone with selecting different dates, choosing Name and choosing Carrier. 

Do I need anything in OnSelect or OnChange?

I don't need a default set.

@SP_Newbie when you select 'Other' & 'FedEx', does the new record still show blank choice values in SharePoint?

I unfortunately am not able to recreate this issue on my end. Your items property looks valid and the submit button's code looks good as well. You can troubleshoot this issue by creating 2 labels on your screen that reference ReceiverNameDropDown.Selected.Value and ShippingCarrierDropDown.Selected.Value respectively. This way you can easily track whether that reference actually contains a value.

Another way of writing your current Patch code for those fields would be:

@LaurensM Still didn't work, but it is something with the drop down. I eliminated the drop down and just used text boxes for text entry of Receiver & Carrier. 

I tested and that works. I just need to add code for if Blank but otherwise it works. 

Thank you again for trying to resolve my issue. Not sure what it is about the dropdown menu that won't work.

It probably has more to do with the column types.

1. Thou shalt use only Single line of text, Numbers and Date/Time type columns.

This is the first rule and makes your Power Apping much easier to Power App! In case you are wondering what the commandments are here is a post that explains them.

Complex columns are just not worth using in the long run as you can have the same type of control but built on the app side rather than the SP side. This will also make your app 100x easier to build and maintain.
