Hidden Required fields in Sharepoint customised form not saving when form submits.

Hi all

 

I am working on a customised SharePoint list form and having issues with submitting a completed form.  I've investigated a little and think it's due to hidden fields which are Required so validation stopping it going through.  However they are hidden because they are only presented on previous responses and need to stay Required/Mandatory if and when needed.  How does one deal with this situation / workaround as I have a number of these conditional fields in the form.   I am new to powerapps so please be gentle.

Hard code dropdowns with the options like ["Option 1","Option2", etc], & make sure the Update property of the card references the dropdown inside.

If you are changing field types, you will typically need to remove them from your form and add them back in depending on the change.

For your multiselection fields, this means you will be working with a Combobox.  Comboboxes utilize the DefaultSelectedItems property to set their defaults.  You will need to supply a table of records that is compatible (i.e matching) with the Items property of the combobox - so, it's not a definitive answer as to what they should be without knowing the Items property of the combobox.

Dropdowns are usually based on the Choice function of the choice column in your datasource.  For those you would utilize the Default property to supply a text value that would be displayed in the dropdown.

Most ALL of those (dropdowns and comboboxes) are usually added to your form automatically when you add a field that requires them.

You can change the fields to Not required in SharePoint and make them required in PowerApps. It will accomplish the same thing.  An alternative is to supply a dummy default value to them and hide or unhide the card when necessary. 

Thanks Drrickryp for your quick response.  Just tried changing fields to Not required in SharePoint.  Do I need to remove and re-add the fields again as I have refreshed data, published and completed a form and still not working for me.  The fields in questions shows in powerapps as Required fields but not in SharePoint, which is the desired right?   I also tested out adding default value in the Required field and this was great, however it only worked for single text fields but not for choice or multiselection fields - at least that was my experience.  Please let me know if I need to remove and re-add fields in powerapps.

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Winners will be posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!   This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions in the Forums to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.
