I need to make sure that when a user selects Nominee Name, the Nominee Manager & Submitter Manager as well.  The Submitter will be selecting the nominee's name when using the form by clicking on the Nomine Name, which should populate the Nomine Manager column. Also, make sure that the Submitter Manager name populates when the submitter selects the Nominee Name column.

Can someone please guide me with the request?

Oh, okay, I will do that and give it a shot. Thank you so much.

Also, the Nominee Manager & Submitter Manager is not capturing data in the SharePoint list when I hit submit for my form. I check both Controller Org & Controller Awards SharePoint lists.

Was that before or after you set the DefaultSelectedItems to the latest stuff? The formulas with Claims, DisplayName etc.

Both Nominee Manager & Submitter Manager were added fields to SharePoint after.

Also, I used the formula for Nominee Manager:

{Value: LookUp('Controller Org',Employee= DataCardValue45.Selected.DisplayName).Manager}

And, for the submitter Manager, I used the:
{Value: LookUp('Controller Org', 'Employee Name' = User().FullName).Manager_Name}

The funny thing is they both work, but I don't get the data input back on the SharePoint list. I only get this column data only:

Nominee Manager - not data populated

Submitter Manager - not data populated

Makes sense. Those won't send the data since you are using Person type fields.

Gotta use the two formulas in this earlier message: https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Power-Apps/How-can-populated-Nominee-Manager-amp-amp-Su...

Once you do, the data should populate after you submit.

oh okay so, I try it but I think I'm not working this formula correctly

Kumar09_0-1717606508034.png

Gotta get rid of the old stuff. You only want the new stuff

Even if I used the formula that you gave me it doesn't populate data on the screen when selected the nominee name

@leonsig93 ,

I'm getting the same results for both Nominee Manager & Sumttiers Manager when I'm using the formula that you recommended: Gotta use the two formulas in this earlier message: https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Building-Power-Apps/How-can-populated-Nominee-Manager-amp-amp-Su...

Hey @Kumar09 , so I'm just going to start from scratch and try to replicate your set up because there is some sort of disconnect going on with either the data source or the controls. So I'll do my best to copy everything you have set up, I just need you to verify everything as we go along.

Disclaimer! I'm using Modern Controls for this, if you are using Classic let me know and I can help you translate things if necessary.

I'm going to start by making both lists to mimic yours. I'm only adding the fields we need for this situation.

These are the fields I'm putting in Controller Org. Please read through the columns and their types and make sure they match.

These are my Nominee and Submitter details:

leonsig93_5-1717636861375.png

I'm going to submit a nomination for Jessica. So Submitter Manager will be Darnell (my manager) and Nominee Manager will be Jeff.

Make sure you double check that each persons information is correct. If you have the name or email wrong, it might display a user in your form but it will fail when you go to submit. If Jeff's email is JeffSample@123.com but you have JSample@123.com in your Manager_Email_Address field it will fail because that's technically not the same person.

For the form, I only have the fields we need. I'm assuming the form is set to "New" mode since users are submitting nominations:

leonsig93_3-1717636415696.png

This is my set up for Nominee Name. My DataCardValue15 is equal to your DataCardValue45. I renamed it to cmbNomineeName so I can quickly tell which control to use. The set up for Nominee Manager and Submitter Manager need to be the same. Notice I added the DisplayName field via the "Fields" option for the combo box.

leonsig93_4-1717636526749.png

With the form ready and my sample data created, I select 'Jessica' in the Nominee Name dropdown.

In the DefaultSelectedItems property for the Nominee Manager field, I added this code

With(
    {
        varNomineeManager: LookUp(
            'Controller Org',
            'Employee Name' = cmbNomineeName.Selected.DisplayName
        )
    },
    {
        '@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
        Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & Lower(varNomineeManager.Manager_Email_Address),
        Department: "",
        DisplayName: varNomineeManager.Manager_Name,
        Email: Lower(varNomineeManager.Manager_Email_Address),
        JobTitle: "",
        Picture: ""
    }
)

The Nominee Manager field immediately populates Jessica's Manager details (Jeff). You can test this by picking a different user and then picking the same user again.

leonsig93_6-1717637380055.png

Next I go down to Submitter Manager and use the same, slightly modified formula so I can get my manager's info (Darnell)

With(
    {
        varSubmitterManager: LookUp(
            'Controller Org',
            'Employee Name' = User().FullName
        )
    },
    {
        '@odata.type': "#Microsoft.Azure.Connectors.SharePoint.SPListExpandedUser",
        Claims: "i:0#.f|membership|" & Lower(varSubmitterManager.Manager_Email_Address),
        Department: "",
        DisplayName: varSubmitterManager.Manager_Name,
        Email: Lower(varSubmitterManager.Manager_Email_Address),
        JobTitle: "",
        Picture: ""
    }
)

This again, immediately populates the data for my manager Darnell

leonsig93_7-1717637696576.png

Once you have all that, just need to add a button with SubmitForm(YourFormName)

After you do all that, it should pass the data your Controller Awards list:

leonsig93_8-1717639075989.png

@leonsig93

How come you don't have both Nominee Manager & Submitter Manager added to the Controller Org and only have it in the Controller Awards?
