How do I get the current app version for a user?

Hi,

I want to display a warning for my users if they are not running the latest published version of my app (because PowerApp's native warning isn't always displayed) so that they could update it.

To do that, I grabbed the published version by using the PowerappsForMakers connector:

PowerAppspourlescréateurs.GetApp("id").properties.appVersion

This gives me the release date, but I now want to check if it matches the version deployed on the user-end.

How can I get it? I checked things like "App.StudioVersion", "Host.Version" but I couldn't find it.

Easiest way is to make a significant UI change to that screen which is accessible and visible to everyone. Now ask all the users if they can see the specific UI change that you made. In this way you can make sure about the version control in Power Apps for all the different users.

That's what I want to avoid, I want the users to know if they are using the latest released version without me having to tell them what changed

We are a huge organization and are using an Internal App. Everytime we make change, we explicitly tell the users about the new features and avoid using the application at the time of deployment.

Good if this works for you, but this seems a bit off topic as I personally want the user to notice the available update without having to ask me.

I have a whole blog post dedicated to this. You need to create the version handling manually, as the app version you get from the Power Apps functions is more like the authoring version that the actual app version. The blog post will show you how to create a reference, and how to force users to always use the most up to date version, even if their browser has cached it.

Agreed, blasting out internal comms every time you make a change to an app is incredibly inefficient. I do not recommend that.

As I said in my other reply, you can use the method from my blog to enforce the latest version for users, with no requirement from them - they will get a prompt saying they are not using the latest version, then they will need to refresh until the versions align - this ensures nobody can use outdated copies of the app.
