How to Capture google map Location using Power App
Hello Experts ,
I have one requirement in my App , i want to record the start and end location of the person who is using app. As of now i have implemented how to open user current location on a button click. Please find the screen shot
On image OnSelect it launches the google map and shows current location. i am writing this on Onselect
Launch("http://www.google.com/maps/place/" & Location.Latitude & "," & Location.Longitude)
Now i want this locations to be store somewhere (may be SP list) as link and once we will see the records that link will open google map to check where this user was when he recorded his location.
Please advise if any one have idea on this

Hi @Anonymous ,
I assume here you are using SharePoint - you need that code to run from inside a form or gallery to work (or ThisItem is invalid). Otherwise, you need the ID of the current record in its place.
For your second question, you can store it it one text field with a comma between (I called the field LatLong)
Patch(
YourListName,
{ID:YourCurrentItemID},
{
LatLong:Location.Latitude & "," & Location.Longitude
}
)

@Anonymous ,
This Patch code you posted earlier will write to the specific field (start in this case). You do not need to SubmitForm()
Patch(
'BG Activity Recorder',
{ID:ThisItem.ID},
{
StartLatLong:Location.Latitude & "," & Location.Longitude
}
)
just do the same for End with the appropriate field.
One important thing - the Buttons need to be inside the Form for ThisItem to work (you can put them in a custom card)
If the form is linked to the list, the cards (and text boxes) will update as long as their Default is Parent.Default
Is this what you are asking?

Hi @Anonymous ,
If yours works, then that is good, but here is an alternative for the first one
Launch(
"https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=" &
Location.Latitude &
"," &
Location.Longitude
)
To store, you would simply Patch the value (for example to the same List with Fields Lat and Long
Patch(
YourListName,
{ID:ThisItem.ID},
{
Lat:Location.Latitude,
Long:Location.Longitude
}
)
assuming you are running this from within a Form or Gallery.

hello @WarrenBelz , Thank you so much for the suggestion as per your suggestion i have added two data card on App screen "StartLatLong" and "EndLatLong" on the form submission both field are storing value in the SP list.
Let me tell you my scenario, i want person Start and End location so i have added two button one two record start location and another to record end location.so when user will click on start location it will take only Start latlong field value and similar way EndLatLong.
So i want to record specific filed value on button Click. not on Submit whole form. For the Data Card I am writing below;
OnSelect:
Patch(
'BG Activity Recorder',
{ID:ThisItem.ID},
{
StartLatLong:Location.Latitude & "," & Location.Longitude
}
)
Default:
Location.Latitude & ", " & Location.Longitude
on button click the current value in the field should be clear .
PLease find the screen shot below.

Hi @Anonymous ,
I am not entirely sure on your question here, but if that is a form I am looking at and the fields are in cards belonging to the fields StartLatLong and EndLatLong, the Default of the text boxes just needs to be Parent.Default
Is this what you are asking?

Hello @WarrenBelz Thank you so much, actually the issue was my button was not inside the form as patch code i was putting on field on select. i was not aware how to add button inside a form. by following your guidelines i made that. now patch code i am writing on button on select which will record the location when user will click on the button for that specific field only.
