How to convert the first 4 digit of Barcode scanned value that starts with a particular value to particular text?

Hello Experts,

I am a beginner to PowerApps.

And currently building an Barcode Scanner App.

I am facing the below issue, and I am trying to solve this for long. please help:

Q): How to convert the first 4 digit of Barcode scanned value that starts with “0141”value to text “FM”?

and rest barcodes that starts with different 4 digit numbers will show as “MM”.

I am planning to make the first 4digit of any barcode scanned to be identified as 2 letter code

eg: barcode scanned value is: 014156789

and i need to replace the first 4 digit numbers “0141” to text as “FM”.

the result will be: FM56789.

And other barcodes other than starting with 0141 will be have MM56789( from above).

How can i do this pls?

I am using Gallery for the Barcode collection, and named as “getmultiplebarcodes”.

And I am using the below formula under barcode Scanner: OnScan;

If(CountRows (Filter (getmultiplebarcodes, StartsWith(Left(BarcodeScanner2.Value, 4), "0141*)))>0, Replace (Left (BarcodeScanner2.Value, 4)

,1,4, "FM"));

This is not straight-forward - one direction would be to make a new Collection with the amended code - I am assuming here that the field containing the barcode in getmultiplebarcodes is Value.

I applied the solution but still I am not getting the results intended .

Under the barcode scanner, I selected onscan and then applied the formula you gave.

 

But still I am not getting the results like I wanted on the barcode. its still showing as 014156789 instead of FM56789.

Please assist.

@Fajna ,
Your gallery items property should be set to colNewCodes collection, not to getmultiplebarcodes collection.

Also, in OnScan formula you should first populate the getmultiplebarcodes and the to use the clear collect formula for colNewCodes, otherwise you will not have in gallery the last item scanned.

I changed the gallery collection name to ColNewCodes. and it started wording.

But i got an another situation here:

When I scan more than one barcodes, the previous records(barcodes) values are changing to new barcodes value.

How can I scan multiple barcodes and get the same output as the barcode.

Eg:

barcode A : 014156789

it’s captured as FM56789.

and then i scan barcode B: 02342222

its also recorded as the rules set and displays as MM2222.

but now my previous result(FM56789) is also changed and displayed as MM2222.

Kindly assist.

The code I provided will "bulk change" all your codes and create the new Collection colNewCodes after you finish scanning them into getmultiplebarcodes. That is the only way you are going to do this without a considerable degree of additional complication.

I am trying to point out that you need to run the code I provided after you have completed scanning all of your codes (not directly after each scan as you are doing now) and simply convert the entire getmultiplebarcodes collection into the values you need in the new collection ColNewCodes. There may be a way to do what you are doing but if so, will be very complex.
