How to create a downloadable vcard .vcf in Powerapps, with Office365Users information ?

Dear all,

For our Company phonebook (in Powerapps), it would be nice to import a .vcf into the phone,

containing Office365Users information.

The .vcf can then be stored locally on the mobile device.

Anybody an idea how to perform this ?

For instance With Launch, Download or a Flow ?

kind regards

Erik

Hi @hermans25 ,

Do you want to download contact details from your app, and store it as a .vcf file in your Mobile device?

If you want to download contact details from your app, and store it as a .vcf file in your Mobile device, I afraid that there is no way to achieve your needs in PowerApps currently.

Note: The Download() function could only download a file from a web address.

HI @hermans25 ,

Could you please share a bit more about your scenario?

Do you want to import a .vcf file into your PowerApps app?

If you want to import a .vcf file into a PowerApps app, I afraid that there is no way to achieve your needs in PowerApps currently. Importing a file into an app directly is not supported within PowerApps.

If you would like this feature to be added in PowerApps, please submit an idea to PowerApps Ideas Forum:

https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/PowerApps-Ideas/idb-p/PowerAppsIdeas

As an alternative solution, you could consider take a try to extract data from your .vcf file into a data source, e.g. A Excel table stored in OneDrive, a SP list, etc. Then within your app, creating a connection to the data source. After that, you could save the data within your data source into your Mobile device locally.

More details about saving data into your Mobile device, please check and see if the following blog would help in your scenario:

Hi Kris,

It's exactly the opposite:

We have build a Phonebook in Powerapps, using the Office365users information.

People use the app to quickly be able to search for a colleague and dial from the app (using Launch(tel:) .

I am looing for a method where the end user can download contact details from the Phonebook Powerapp in order to store that as a new contact for instance in an iphone.

By mailing a vcard to an iphone, it's possible to directly store those contact details in the phone. So I was thinking of generating a Vcard that's users can download to their phone from Powerapps as well.

Since all details are available in the Powerapp already, a Label with dynamic text is easy to generate:

BEGIN:VCARD
VERSION:4.0
N:Gump;Forrest;;Mr.;
FN:Forrest Gump
ORG:Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.
TITLE:Shrimp Man
PHOTO;MEDIATYPE=image/gif:http://www.example.com/dir_photos/my_photo.gif
TEL;TYPE=work,voice;VALUE=uri:tel:+1-111-555-1212
TEL;TYPE=home,voice;VALUE=uri:tel:+1-404-555-1212

EMAIL:forrestgump@example.com

END:VCARD

The big guestion is how to generate this into a .vcf file (via Flow?) and how to make that downloadable in the Powerapp Phonebook ?

kind regards and many thanks for your help,

Erik

 Hi @hermans25

I am looking to do this as well. We have a sharepoint contact list with supplier contacts and I want to allow the users to download the vcf to their mobile phone if they wish.  Did you manage to find a solution for this?

Cheers

Graham

Hi,

No unfortunately no solution found yet.

As an alternative, I created a QR-code which can be scanned by another (mobile) device.

I have accomplished this by uploading vcf files to cloud storage with a public link. Then I placed the links within excel sheet and imported that into power apps as a datasource. I can now click on a button and download a vcf file. It works great on desktop and mobile.

Hi, how did you do to download the data?

I've done everything you said, I have all data ready but don't know what to do with it as I don't know how to save all data as a .vcf file. could you please share a way or the code of the button? Thank you!

KR

Hi, can someone please paste the code for it?

Or give me an overview on how to do it, this would be very beneficial for the organization I work for.

It is possible to trigger the automate every time a user is added/removed with a particular license (E3)?

Thank you in advance.

Hi, not sure if you need this anymore but ive used this in my image within the power app.

I'm struggling with the users photo though which i think i just need to convert to base64 and the IM link i cant see to get working?
