How to create and set up a flow to send a file to OneDrive using PowerApps?

Hello everyone, how are you doing?

I'm new to programming and I've discovered that PowerApps and Power Automate are incredible and easy-to-learn tools! Right now, I'm trying to learn on my own, mostly by watching videos and seeking help online, as the courses here in Brazil are quite expensive.

I would appreciate your help. I've created an app in PowerApps that sends files to a SharePoint list. Since I didn't know how to use Power Automate, I did it directly in code. However, I'd like to send a copy of the file to OneDrive as soon as I click the "send" button. I created a flow that sends the file to OneDrive, and it works correctly when I test it. But I'm struggling to integrate this flow into PowerApps (my application). I would really appreciate your help. I'll upload the images and code here, but they are in Brazilian Portuguese. If you could assist me, I'd be very grateful! Please feel free to ask if you have any questions.

This is the screen to input the data that will be registered and attach the file, which currently only goes to SharePoint. The 'Salvar' button sends the data and the file to SharePoint. Below is the code for the button's 'onselect'
Remember that to send the data and files to SharePoint, I didn't create a flow; I did it directly in the code because I didn't know how to use Power Automate.

Code found in the 'onselect' of the salvar button!
UpdateContext(
SubmitForm(Form2);;

Patch(
Lista_Temas;
{ID: Form2.LastSubmit.ID};
Anexos_Enviados.Run({contentBytes: First(DataCardValue11.Attachments).Value; name: First(DataCardValue11.Attachments).Name});;
{
Titulo_Reuniao: drp_reuniao.Selected.Subject;
Data_Reuniao: drp_reuniao.Selected.Start;
Tema: Txt_tema.Text;
Colaborador: Txt_Colaborador.Text;
Duracao: Txt_Duracao.Text & Text(" Minutos");
Copia_Anexo: Form2.LastSubmit.ID;
ID_Tema: GUID() & Text(
Now();
"ddmmyyhhmmss"
);

Data_Abertura: Text(Now())
}

)
);;

ResetForm(Form2);;
UpdateContext(
{
loc_PatchLogTemas: Patch(
Log_Temas;
Defaults(Log_Temas);
{
FK_ID_Tema: loc_PatchTemas.ID_Tema;
Tipo_Modificacao: "Novo Temas"
}
)
}
);;
Patch(
Log_Temas;
loc_PatchLogTemas;
{CopiaID: loc_PatchLogTemas.ID}
);;

UpdateContext({LocNovoTema:false});;
Reset(drp_reuniao);;
Reset(Txt_tema);;
Reset(Txt_Colaborador);;
Reset(Txt_Duracao)

I created this flow to send files to OneDrive!

marcospfa_1-1702987789888.png

And I tried to call this flow (Anexos_Enviados.run()) using the code below:

Anexos_Enviados.Run({contentBytes: First(DataCardValue11.Attachments).Value; name: First(DataCardValue11.Attachments).Name});;

However, when trying to run the application, the file is sent to SharePoint normally. Yet, an error, as shown in the image below, occurs, and the file is not sent to OneDrive.

marcospfa_2-1702988118168.png

My question is how to call the flow and/or where to place the flow code so that it executes correctly. I want to confirm if I indeed called the flow correctly based on the code shown.

Note: I attempted to create a flow to send the file to SharePoint using PowerApps v2, but I consistently receive this error message during the 'Parse JSON' step!

The 'content' property of actions of type 'ParseJson' must be valid JSON. The provided value cannot be parsed: 'Unexpected character encountered while parsing value: . Path '', line 0, position 0.'.

Sorry for the lengthy text. As my code contains a lot of information in Portuguese, I wanted to try to explain it in a way that makes it easier to understand.

Thank you in advance for the help.

If I created an unnecessary or misplaced topic, please let me know!

Hi @marcospfa ,

Please check the video in below link:

PowerApps - Upload file to SharePoint Library or OneDrive using Attachment Control - YouTube

Besides, your flow was triggered at wrong place, Flow.Run() should be outside of Patch function. There are too many Patch and SubmitForm(Patch method too) together in a set of formulas. They may cause error if more than two Patch functions are triggered on one button.

Could you please explain why you have a new form with few columns for subject list, then Patch other columns from outside of the form? My preferred formulas will be like as follow:

SubmitForm(Form2);; //create new subject in subjects list
Anexos_Enviados.Run(...);;                        //triggering the flow
ResetForm(Form2);;
UpdateContext(                                    //add new subject log
{
loc_PatchLogTemas: Patch(
Log_Temas;
Defaults(Log_Temas);
{
FK_ID_Tema: Form2.LastSubmit.ID_Tema;
Tipo_Modificacao: "Novo Temas"
}
)
}
);;

UpdateContext({LocNovoTema:false});;
Reset(drp_reuniao);;
Reset(Txt_tema);;
Reset(Txt_Colaborador);;
Reset(Txt_Duracao)

You can have calculated columns in SP list to automatically generate values based on their own ID values, Copia_Anexo and CopiaID. It's more accurate and efficient.

Hi @marcospfa ,

For this case, I suggest that you create an automated flow using the admin's account on SharePoint based upon new file created in library instead of adding the flow on PowerApps button.

Hello @v-jefferni , how are you? Thank you for the help, I managed to receive the attachments on OneDrive. Now, if possible and if you know, how can I ensure that the file is sent only to the folder of a user who administers the application?

For example: I'm a regular user and I enter information and attach files in the app, and when I send it, that attachment goes to my folder in my OneDrive, right?

I'd like to send this attachment only to the folder of a user who is an administrator of the application. If it's not possible to do or if it's too complicated to explain, it could also be sending a file to a channel in Teams.

I hope I'm not taking advantage of your willingness to help, but when we don't know, we have to ask for help... lol
