How to enter multiple rows of data (most of the columns are duplicated) in Powerapps?

Hello, everyone.

I am trying to implement a feature to be able to enter multiple rows of data into SharePoint at the same time in PowerApps.

I have now found a way to produce an excel format as shown below.

XiaohuLiu_0-1692331455231.gif

But most of the columns in each row are actually the same, so how do you make some of the columns in the newly generated row equal to the values in the previous row?

Your help is much appreciated, thanks!

I've tried the following for adding the last line of the latest input to the collection and then reading the latest line as wLast, but it doesn't seem to work.

With(
{wLast: Last(colUpdates), lastItem: Last(colUpdates)},
If(
varGalleryMode="New" And ThisItem.ID=wLast.ID,
Collect(
colUpdates,
Update(
lastItem,
{
ID: wLast.ID+1,
ItemNumber: wLast.ItemNumber,
Description: wLast.Description,
Quantity: wLast.Quantity,
Location: wLast.Location
}
)
)
)
);

@XiaohuLiu

If your column is called "Items" not "ItemNumber" change the column/s names to suit your collection column names

Thank you very much for your reply.
I went back and double-checked what was in the collection colUpdates and it was correct. As shown in the picture

I've changed the onchange on all four txt-inputs, but it doesn't seem to work

@XiaohuLiu

Well this should work. Do you have any other code that maybe affect the outcome? I can see a Clear(colUpdates), where is that?

All I can think of is there is some other code running at the same time as the OnChange and this is affecting the output

Dear EddieE, Thank you very much for your help, I've changed the code a bit and it now replicates the "colUpdates" I set when I clicked on "ADD".

With(
// note the small change here
{wLast: Last(colUpdates)},
If(
varGalleryMode="New" And ThisItem.ID=wLast.ID,
// note the small change to the ID here
Collect( colUpdates, {ID: wLast.ID+1, ItemNumber: wLast.ItemNumber,Description: wLast.Description,Quantity: wLast.Quantity,Location: wLast.Location }))
);

But I have a question, is it possible to make the table copy the contents of its own previous row? Let me give you an example, For example, if I change something in the fourth row, I want all subsequent rows to be copies of the fourth row, not the "colUpdates" defined at the beginning.
I wonder if this is possible? Thank you very much for your help!

@XiaohuLiu

I’m not sure what you mean. Are you saying that you want row 4 in your image to be copied to row 5 when you click ‘ADD’?

Your code should do this already. Maybe remove all OnChnage code from all the inputs and see what happens, there still appears to be some other code affecting the collection output.

Hi, EddieE, thank you for your reply.

What I'm trying to achieve now is how to get the rows entered in the gallery into the collection colUpdates, and then wLast is the latest last row every time.

That is, I want the next row to always copy the previous row, thanks again.

With(
{wLast: Last(colUpdates),lastItem:Last(colUpdates)},
If(
varGalleryMode="New" And ThisItem.ID=wLast.ID,
Collect( colUpdates, {ID: wLast.ID+1, ItemNumber: wLast.ItemNumber,Description:wLast.Description,Quantity:wLast.Quantity,Location:wLast .Location }))
);

I've tried the following for adding the last line of the latest input to the collection and then reading the latest line as wLast, but it doesn't seem to work.

With(
{wLast: Last(colUpdates), lastItem: Last(colUpdates)},
If(
varGalleryMode="New" And ThisItem.ID=wLast.ID,
Collect(
colUpdates,
Update(
lastItem,
{
ID: wLast.ID+1,
ItemNumber: wLast.ItemNumber,
Description: wLast.Description,
Quantity: wLast.Quantity,
Location: wLast.Location
}
)
)
)
);
