How to export data from PowerApps to Excel

Hi,

I want to export data from a PowerApps collection into Excel (created in the flow and stored in SharePoint). I am able to do it into a CSV file that opens in Excel, but the columns merge to one. How can I make it go from this table:

CSV format.png
To this tabel:

table.png

Ideally I would like to make these formatting changes in the flow if possible. I cant do the changes in Excel, because the Excel goes automatically to the user and I want it to look nice when they recive it.
Here is my flow:

Create CSV.png

The Input looks like this at the step called Input: [{"name":"Nora","color":"pink"},{"name":"Tom","color":"green"},{"name":"Jim","color":"blue"},{"name":"Tim","color":"black"},{"name":"Lola","color":"green"}]

Can I use Parse JSON or something similar in the flow to make this happen? And which steps do I then need to take?

Appreciate the help!

Hi again @Rusk,

I really appreciate you helping me!

I checked the "Automatic" on the CSV table creation and that the experimental feature is turned off, and both of them are equal to your screen shots.

But, I found a way to do it! It is not a really nice way, but I was able to do it like explained in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kupz71dWYyY

I use PowerApps at the starter and input of the flow, and I use SharePoint instead off OneDrive, and this works.

Thanks for all the help!

Hi @blinabj,

Is your Excel file stored online in OneDrive for Business, SharePoint Sites, or Office 365 Groups?

If so, you can connect to Excel directly rather than use a Power Automate flow:

Hi @KeithAtherton,

My original data is stored in a SharePoint list, and then from that data I have made a collection in PowerApps that I want to export as Excel.

And I need the opportunity to create several Excel exports from different collections, so I can't just edit an original Excel file.

Thanks for taking the time to help!

Thanks for the follow-up info. Can the Power Automate Excel "Create table" operation help?:

Thanks @KeithAtherton.

I have tried using that, but I need to create the file in a step first if I am going to use that, and I dont know how to do that in Excel format. Do you know of such step that works? I have found severalt, but none that I think works...

Thanks, I understand. There are several "Create file" options which may help:

Another option may be to have an existing Excel file which you then copy each time:

Yes you can parse the JSON as follows:

Rusk_0-1670949565379.png

Rusk_1-1670949618371.png

Thank you so much for helping me, @Rusk ! I have tried exactly what you are suggesting. And it ends up looking like this:

CSV format.png

I don't know if that is because of how my input looks or why it ends up like that... because I have seen youtube examples doing exactly what you are suggesting and getting it into the right format...

I need it to look like this:

table.png

Really appreciate the help! 😀

Hi again,

It must be something with the way your data is structured?  I just tested it and it works for me 😛

Rusk_1-1670957589479.png

Result:

Rusk_0-1670957560023.png

Thanks for clearing that up, @Rusk ! That's what I thought it might be... The data is coming from a SharePoint list, and is used to create a collection in PowerApps that is then used to create the Excel-file. And it looks like this in PowerApps:

Create collection.png

Export.png

PowerApps.png

And when I use the Compose step in the flow, the output looks like this:

Compose.png

Does your Compose output look the same?

Really appreciate the help😊
