How to get data from one source to show on a form from another?

I have a customized form ("Main Form").

On the same site, I have another SharePoint list ("Secondary Data").

When users are on the Main Form, I want them to click an icon that will show data from Secondary Data in a popup window.

I can do the popup part, but assuming this can be done, I don't know how to get the Secondary Data to show.

Any suggestions please?

Hi @DAVINCIFENIX ,

I assume there is a linking "key" field common to the two lists - I also have to assume here that there is only one matching record in 'Secondary Data' - using Key1 and Key2 as the field names matching - you can have multiple fields referred to in pop-up controls and I am assuming you have selected the record in the Form from a gallery.

   'Secondary Data',
   Key2 = GalleryName.Selected.Key1
).YourRequiredDisplayField

There's a pull-down menu on Main Form that contains abbreviations, which can be cryptic to first-time users. There's one column in Secondary Data that can help explain what those values represent.

I was thinking it would be beneficial to those users if I could show that one column in Secondary Data when they click an icon on the Main Form.

If I made that information static, that would mean I'd have to update multiple forms using that using pull-down menu each time there was a change to Secondary Data.

As a temporary workaround, I've created a link to Secondary Data, but I'd prefer they not have to leave the form.

Well, I was hoping for a way to provide the data within the form itself. The link, while it works, opens up other issues that I'd like to avoid.

I admit there's a lot I don't know here, so I want to make sure I'm clearly stating my goal. To describe my vision another way, there is no relationship between the record being viewed on Main Form and Secondary Data, which is why I'm not understanding why a key is needed.  I simply want to have the user reference the secondary data in the main form.

To demonstrate the disparity:

So if my users are looking at a recipe on the main form, I'm giving them the opportunity to look at a page about science fairs which will be what they see no matter what recipe they're viewing.

I am assuming here you know the record from the second list you want to display (as there is no relationship with the first list). If so, you just need to have a Form in the pop-up displaying that record, or am I misunderstanding again ?

It's not a record in the second list...it's the whole second list that I want to show in a pop-up.

In case it helps, there's a pull-down menu on the form containing abbreviated names (the expanded names are far too wide). I want the user to click an icon in the form that shows a pop-up containing what the abbreviated names mean.

By showing this information in a pop-up, I only have to concern myself with updating the second list, so that no matter how many places I have this menu of abbreviated names, I can always have the second list show and not have to update multiple forms.

So you need a Gallery in the pop-up displaying the second list - what exactly in addition to this are you asking ?
