How to keep selected value when updating drop down

I have an application that I have developed that uses several drop down lists in order to prevent manual data entry.

However, if someone were to want to update a previous entry, it reverts back to the first item.

Which value do I need to update in order for the drop down to keep its original entry?

I'll provide an example:

Here is a user I would like to change information on.

When I go into edit mode, AccountStatus is reverted back to "Active" and NGGroup is reverted back to "Administration"

I would like to make it to whereas its original information is kept.

If I could get pointed in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.

• What type of field is it writing back to (and the name of this field)
• What are the Items of the drop-down
• What is the Update of the data card

• They are text data fields that are writing to nchar(10) data types in a SQL database. In the example, these text fields are called "AccountStatus" and "NGGroup"
• For "AccountStatus" the items are: ["Active","Inactive"]

The update properties are correct for the Items, which only leaves the data type. You did not mention it was SQL (and I use SharePoint) but my understanding is that nchar(10) is limited to 10 characters and I can see more than that in your options.

Yes, that is correct. I will plan on updating the character size later on.

This does not answer my question though.

What I'm asking is if I'm editing a previous entry, how do I keep the dropdown to select what's already there?

For example, the selected user's AccountStatus is set to "Inactive" and the NGGroup is set to "Dental"

But when I want to edit this entry, the dropdowns go back to the first items on the list, which are "Active" for AccountStatus and "Administration" for NGGroup.

I am asking for is if there is already data entered for this field, how to keep it selected for that matching data on the dropdown vs going back to the first item on the list?

I'll provide screenshots again for more clarification.

I only screenshot the fields in question but this is already a user that exists in the database.

I would like for it to where on the edit screen, it stays at the selected value so that way nobody has to do any extra data entry work.

If a drop-down, what is the Default, if a ComboBox, what is the DefaultSelectedItems?

Right now, the default is set to Parent.Default.

Assuming this is a drop-down (not a combo box), that should work - try ThisItem.AccountStatus and ThisItem.NGGroup
