How to limit number of items in gallery with slider

Dear Team,

I have a browse gallery to display items from sharepoint.  (this gallery is created by Powerapps). This has a text box to search.  I have placed a slider over the gallery (as shown in the picture attached).  I have also set the max value of slider to the total number of records retrieved from sharepoint, into gallery.

my question is: how can I reduce the number of items displayed in the gallery based on the value of Slider. ( I mean to say, if I decrease the value of slider to 10, gallery should show only ten, if I increase the number to 25, it should show 25 items only)

Please help.

with regards

Repath Athyala.

Hi @Riphath ,

You need the FirstN function - add this to the Filter for your gallery and refer to the slider value for the number.

There was no picture attached to your post, so I cannot provide more detail, but happy to do so if you provide the Items of your gallery and the name of your slider.

thank you very much for your response, I tried with FirstN but there is not data retrieval.

Gallery Name: galBrowseMain

Slider Name: sliderBrowserMain

also can you pplease help me, where should I write the code, because, the gallery is already being filtered with TxtSearchBox placed above the slider.

thank you.

Hi @Riphath ,

Sorry I missed your post - if you tag me in responses, they are much easier to see in my feed.

Can you please tell me what the Items property of your gallery is as requested.

Hi @Riphath ,

Just checking if you got the result you were looking for on this thread. Happy to help further if not.

@WarrenBelz

Hi Warren, Sorry, I didn't know, that I should tag, as I am very new to this forum.

In response to my request: I am not yet done that slider and Gallery combination:

Gallery gets data from Sharepoint list:, the following is the code that I have written for Gallery Items:

SortByColumns(Search(FirstFile,txtSearchInput.Text, "ValueAdd"),"Beneficiary", If(SortDescending1, Descending, Ascending))

actual context:

I have a sharepoint list which contains nearly 7 cols, and the 8th col is "ValueAdd", where I am concatenating all the 7 cols in the list.  I did this to help me in the search (as you can see in the picture, I have a search text box".  The sharepoint list may have anywhere between 1500 to 2000 rows of data.

What I have done:

When someone types any text in the search text box, to filter their respective data (say for example: a user types "May", they are getting nearly over 100 entries... and it will be very difficult for the user to check from the entire 100 entries (rows)..,

to counter this, I have placed slider in the same screen, where the max number of items in the gallery will be the max value of the slider (Slider Max Value: CountRows(galBrowseMain.AllItems))

now, the problem is:

I am not able to reduce the number of items in the gallery based on the slider value (ie., if I move the slider from right to left, the number in the slider decreases, and so should be the number of rows in the gallery, [If I move the slider handle to extreme left, I should have only a few - say - three or four items]

can you please help... and thank you  for proactively, knowing about the status,

with thanks and regards,

Repath Athyala.

Hi @Riphath ,

Something like the below?

SliderGallery.gif

This will do that (replace with your Slider name)

FirstN(
   SortByColumns(
      Search(
         FirstFile,
         txtSearchInput.Text,
         "ValueAdd"
      ),
      "Beneficiary",
      If(
         SortDescending1,
         Descending,
         Ascending
      )
   ),
   YourSliderName.Value
)

@WarrenBelz

thank you Warren, this is exactly, what I am looking for but the following is the screen for your reference:

( I am rephrasing as the content doesn't look correct)

slider_error.PNG

Default value slider is set to 50., min is one, and max is CountRows(galBrowseMain.AllItems)

the following code is working perfectly well, but not when I replace the "5" with "slider.value"

FirstN(SortByColumns(Search(FirstFile,txtSearchInput.Text, "ValueAdd"),"Beneficiary", If(SortDescending1, Descending, Ascending)), 5)

can you please help..

Hi @Riphath ,

Before I even looked at the screen shot, I could see the issue - you have a circular reference. The problem is that the row numbers of the gallery are set by the slider, so you cannot make the maximum value this formula as the Max will always be the actual value. Not to worry, you just need to make the Max the gallery filter formula (no need to Sort)

Countrows(
   Search(
      FirstFile,
      txtSearchInput.Text
   )
)

You will get a Delegation warning, but this should be OK under 2000 items.

Fantastic sir, this helps me a lot... Thankyou very much.
