How to set Radio button using bold content for specific words only

Hello Everyone,

I know that using HTML label we can set specific content as bold and so on. However I have "Radio button" with three choices ex: ["this is a test","No need: test2","there is a need:test3"]. I would like to set specific words as "bold". I am not able to find any solution for this scenario. Does PowerApps support this ability? Is there a way to achieve this? 

I would like to get my final output something as ex: ["this is a test":test2]

To my knowledge what you are SPECIFICALLY asking is not possible (currently).  I'm assuming you're asking for bolding (or any other styling) being selectively applied to characters/words within a label, Button, list, etc.

One way to do something like this is through creative use of labels.  You can definitely do an if/then on a font weight:

• If(l_SwapWeight,FontWeight.Bold,FontWeight.Normal)

So conceivably you could build your "label" from multiple labels and resize them to include one that is bold vs. normal.  Messy, but potentially workable.

I also tried on Checkbox property, but it makes everything as bold instead of one single word called testing. 

ex: If(Checkbox5.Text="testing",fontweight.Normal,FontWeight.Bold)

Checkbox text is: "testing the checkbox".

Well, the IF statement works for entire fields and only for the entire field.  For a standard "radio control" you cannot do it.  You'd have to essentially build the radio control on your own *OR* not have any values for the Radio button list to display (just a series of radio buttons w/ no text) and instead have some Labels that you could individually control via the IF statement.

So create a Radio control.

For Items: Table({Value:"some name", display:""},{Value:"some other name", display:""})

For the Value dropdown select: display

This gives you a blank Radio control w/ two choices.

Create two labels named RadioLabel1 & RadioLabel2, move them next to your control and make their text reflect the two radio choices.

Now you can individually control their font weight.   But again, only of the entire field.

For example, for RadioLabel1, the FontWeight property should be:  If(RadioLabel1.Text="some text you want to bold",fontweight.bold,fontweight.normal)

I think at the end of the day it will be for whole text of that radio button. 

As of now I am adding a etxt label to the end of my eahc radio button and made that as Bold. because I only need last word to be bold. 

And then I need to pact that selected line with label, however now the issue is that I have radio button with three choices and each choice should be pacthed with different text label and should be able to save it to sharepoint list. Not sure how can be pacth at each selected value of radio button.

It might be simpler to pre-populate a Collection w/ the values you'd be displaying in the Radio Control outside of it and just referencing the value in the Items property.  

For example: ClearCollect(myRadio,{Value:"some name", order:1,display:""},{Value:"some other name", order:2,display:""})

Set your Radio Items to be: myRadio

Then you can put the value the the first Label Text to be: LookUp(myRadio,order=1,Value)

Just iterate the value of order for each choice's label.

To take the value from your Radio control (e.g. Radio1), to Patch your SharePoint list use:  Radio1.Selected.value

That should work just fine and still allow you to kind of control things in a more centralized manner (via the Collection) instead of each individual control.

Sorry to ask you again. I am bit new to this and was not able to undersytand your below process. Is it possible to share the soltuion using screen shots?

So I created a sample applet where a button creates the Collection (you'd probably do this instead during your OnVisible event for your screen or similar)

I then created a Radio and linked it to the Collection:

Added in my text fields w/ a LookUp to fill their Text values:

Even added a little context label so you could see what was selected populated in real-time:

As you change selections, the label changes between "Selected Item: test" and "Selected Item: test2".

The last step is dependent upon where you're writing your data to and how.  If this is directly linked to SharePoint then you can probably just SubmitForm().  Try it and see.  Most of the Collections (and Radio controls have one) write out the "Value" of the "SelectedItem" by default. 

However, having said that, it is inconsistently case-sensitive and I had you do that w/ a lower case "value" vs. "Value" so it might not work.

Otherwise, you can ultimately use the Patch() function to write out in a pinch.  I don't want to point you in that direction though if your table is directly linked to SharePoint.

How is your form being created?  Is it based upon a SharePoint list directly?
