I am looking to remove an object from a list on one screen by selecting a button on another screen.

We have an onboarding list that we utilize to track progress of IT onboarding an employee. A record is first created by Human Resources in the Power App. Once the work is done, I want a member of IT to select a button on the edit screen and have the record removed from the list that displays on the home screen. This way we can keep the list to only ongoing onboardings.

Hi @agoricki,

To achieve this in your Power App, follow these steps:

Create a Button:
On your edit screen, add a button (e.g., “Mark as Completed” or “Remove from List”) that IT members can click when the onboarding process is done.
Button’s OnSelect Property:
Set the OnSelect property of the button to a formula that performs the necessary actions. For example:
Remove(MyOnboardingList, ThisItem)
Replace MyOnboardingList with the actual name of your data source (the list that displays on the home screen).
Remove Function:
The Remove function removes an item from a collection or data source.
In this case, it removes the current item (ThisItem) from your onboarding list.
Refresh the List:
After clicking the button, you’ll want to refresh the list on the home screen to reflect the updated data.
Use the Refresh function to refresh the data source that populates the list.
Confirmation (Optional):
If you want to show a confirmation message to the user after removal, use a notification or a pop-up.
For example:
Notify("Onboarding record removed successfully.", NotificationType.Success)

Testing:
Test the functionality by creating a sample record in your Power App, marking it as completed using the button, and verifying that it disappears from the list.
Remember to adapt the above steps to your specific app structure and naming conventions.

This approach ensures that only ongoing onboardings are displayed on the home screen, keeping your list organized!

Thanks,

Thanks for the info! All of this looks good, but ThisItem is showing as invalid in the OnSelect Action.

Remove(OnboardList,ThisItem)

Here are a few suggestions to fix the issue:

Confirm that the name of your data source (in your case, OnboardList) is correctly spelled and matches the actual name of your collection or data source.

OnSelect of YourButton:
Set(
SelectedOnboardingItem,
ThisItem
);
Remove(OnboardList, SelectedOnboardingItem)

Replace YourButton with the actual name of your button.

Test the updated formula by selecting an item and clicking the button. Verify that the record is removed from your OnboardList

I do apologize - this question needs to be changed. I did not create this App, and I am trying to fix one of the features. It looks like what the list is doing is filtering out list items based on a custom field in the SharePoint list "ARCH". By default, the record has ARCH as NO. When the button is selected, I want the field to update and change to YES.

The first screen (home screen) shows the full list of employees, filtering out anything with ARCH = YES. The screen where I am putting the button is a second screen that is navigated to when someone selects an employee on the home screen. It is an Edit screen. I want the button to update the ARCH field for the selected item in the list to YES. This should filter it out from the home screen. Please see screenshots
