I get table expected error, what needs to be altered in code?

Hello,

I have this set up of code : Text(If(Mod(Hour(Parent.Default),12) = 0, 12,Mod(Hour(Parent.Default),12)),"00") and it is giving me expected table error. Not sure what I need to edit to make it work.

Thanks in advance!

Hello, I figured it out. This is the correct code here : [Text(If(Mod(Hour(Parent.Default),12) = 0,12,Mod(Hour(Parent.Default),12)),"00")] and then needs to be applied to the default selected items property in the hourvalue card. Please like this as the solution.

Thanks again, for your help!

There is no error with syntax of your code. The error is caused because the value type you are returning is Text when the value expected to be returned is type table

The error message you got indicates that the formula is being used in a property that expects a table (a collection of records) as its result, whereas the formula itself returns a text value.

Examples of Where It Expect a Table:

  • Items: This property is used in controls like Galleries, ListBoxes, and DropDowns to define the collection of items they display. Using a text formula in this property would lead to the "expected table" error.

Examples Where it Expects Text:

  • Default: In controls like TextInput, the Default property expects a text value to be the initial content of the Control. Your formula could be used here instead for example.

Suggested Fix:

If the formula is currently being used in a property that expects a table, you should move it to a property that expects a text value.

The specific property would depend on what you are trying to accomplish with this formula.

For example, if you want to display this formatted time in a Label, you would use the formula in the Text property of the Label

Hello, I have this code in my Default propperty: Text(If(Mod(Hour(Parent.Default),12) = 0, 12,Mod(Hour(Parent.Default),12)),"00") and it is returning expects a record. Any idea on what to change here? This is being perfomred on a HourValue data input on the default property.

@Power5

If you're working with a date/time field, the correct approach would be to extract the hour value directly without using the Text function in the Default property. You could try something like:

If(Mod(Hour(Parent.Default),12) = 0, 12, Mod(Hour(Parent.Default),12))

This should provide the correct number  value for the hour, which may align with what your Default property is expecting in your HourValue if it's looking for a numerical value.

See if it helps @Power5

If not, please provide more info what Control you are using this formula in exactly.

Hello,

I tried doing that same exact thing you did but still get expected record error.

First you said expected table, now you say expected record. Check and make sure exactly what the errors are in both cases. Also go and check which formula and which part of the formula its doing this on. If it's one you did not give here, then make sure to give it. Also specify if this is being done on DataCards of a Form or something else, and if so, is teh DataSource SharePoint List, Dataverse or something else? What columns and expected types of columns are the DataCards referring to? If this is a Form, check carefully the Item property of the Form and see if it's correct, as it should be a single Record there. Check the  DefaultMode of Form, should be FormMode.New for create, FormMode.Edit for edit existing record. See if this helps @Power5

@Power5

Where does it show the error exactly, could you provide screenshot of the exact error, red squiggle, and the full text of the error?

Hello, I am using the data verse as my table for the data. Here is the screenshot with error.
