Images only showing for me in canvas app via OneDrive

Hi All,

I'm a newbie to PowerApps and have built an app based on a canvas app template. It's using a categories gallery with data and  images imported from my OneDrive. All works well for me but anyone else viewing it can only see the data and not images. The same happens for me if I view on my mobile.

I assumed that the images would be imported when i connect the data source but now im having doubts. The data source lists the image URL (which is in my OneDrive) for each item. I've tried sharing that folder in my OneDrive with everyone and also tried putting an image in a sharepoint library and sharing with everyone but theyre still not showing.

Any ideas?

Definitely better to store the images in a shared location like SharePoint (as you've done!) rather than OneDrive for Business.

If you haven't done so already, it could be worth:

• Deleting all the images from the Power App and re-importing them from the SharePoint library.
• Double checking all users have at least read access to the image library.
• Once the images are replaced, republish the app and ensure users are accessing the latest version.

Thanks, really appreciate the response. At the moment the images are referenced from the excel import as URLs but I did wonder if I could change that to look at the "local" image within the app. Do you happen to know what the path would look like to reference an image already hosted in the app?

I'm assuming your data source is an excel spreadsheet?

By default, data isn't stored in the app. The app is just surfacing data for users from a data source. But you can store data in the app with collections

A bit of context about collections (i.e. storing data in the local app):

To store data in the app itself, you can use collections. Collections are basically tables that allow you to store data locally (i.e. in the user's local browser where they have the app open) - and you can store images in collections. However, when you add data from a data source to a Power App collection, it does so in the user/authentication context of the user interacting with the app - which means if they don't have access to the images, they won't be added to the collection.

In your scenario, however, you probably don't need to use a collection. Just thought I'd give a little context.

I'd say your best bet (if you haven't already done so) is to copy all the images to a location in SharePoint Online that's accessible to end users, then change the URLs of the images in the spreadsheet to be this new location. So long as users have read access to the images in SharePoint, they should render just fine in the app for users.

You mentioned a SharePoint Library - this blog of mine may assist you here as that is the best option for you - I have thousands of images in these that are viewed by users on mobile devices.
