Is there is any alternative of ForAll loop in Powerapps

Hi All,

I have a button on which On select property is having 7 For All loops. These 7 For All loop are making the on select property of button very slow and sometimes it skip the last 7th loop.

These 7 loops are used to Patch the information back to DB.

So is there is any other way to iterate over the rows in gallery.

HI,

Have you tried integrating this function, please remember if processes random so if it needs to process the foralls in sequence then this is not a good option, but I use this is other processes like this.

On top of what Jay said, if You are writing your forall patches this way,

ForAll(

      Patch

)

Then this is why you are experiencing slow downs and it will pretty much never be quick.

They should be used like this.

Patch(

         ForAll ()

)

Hi @ridhan ,

Can you tell the following:

1. Is all 7 loops updating same datasource?

2. Is everything dependent or independent?

3. Does it have updating existing records that contain unique ID? 

4. Use With() function and As function to properly work with Looping datas.

Fastest way to update bulk records is with Collection, provided you have unique ID stored for the record. 

Syntax will be

Patch(
   Datasource,
   CollectionName
)

With this you can avoid ForAll completely making things almost faster as it executes everything parallelly rather than ForAll's each element iteration

blankpowerappsID,- collection for records which are existing in one table now i have to make entry of these records in another table with different values

If we are using nested ForAll loop then is there is a way to optimize that one also. Code for your reference:

I dont think nested loops are allowed in canvas apps

Hi @ShaheerAhmad - I am using nested loops and they are working fine. Not sure if there is any constraint on using nested loops
