Issues with submitting forms to Sharepoint

I've created a very simple app with forms from scratch and my data source is a Sharepoint list. I am getting the "There was a problem saving your changes. The data source may be invalid" message when I try to SubmitForm at the end. I'm scratching my head as to what I'm missing here, but I'm sure it's something simple.

I have 7 screens and 6 forms (one on each screen but the last). All have the same data source (SP List). Only 1 field is required. This is essentially my form set up for each of the 6 forms. Also on each form i have the DataSource set as my SP list name and the Item set as Defaults('listname')

I've granted everyone in my organization access to both my SP list and my App.

When I get to the screen before the confirmation I have a save button that has the OnSelect Property set as this:

When I click it, I get the error. image.png

I'm sure i'm missing something simple. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Sara

Hi @slan2018

I don't believe that you can submit multiple forms in one statement.   Typically you would need to have a separate SubmitForm() function for each form.  in the English version it would be

SubmitForm(form1); SubmitForm(Form2); etc.

There may be a problem with your design.  If all of your forms are set to New and you are using the same datasource for all of the forms, you will create new records for each one of your forms rather then creating one record that contains all of the fields on your forms.  If each form is supposed to add data to a single record, you will need to create the record with the first form (Mode set to New) and then edit that record by specifying it as the Item property of the subsequent forms.

Thank you! I'm sure that is part of the issue! Unfortunately I'm still getting the same data source error still.

Hi @slan2018

You may want to take a look at how @murali and @Meneghino  solved a similar problem in the following thread. https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/General-Discussion/Save-data-from-multiple-screens-to-submit/td-...

Hi @slan2018 ,

Could you check if you also get this error when you submit a single Form?

There is a bug since Aug 13 affecting a number of apps that also gives this error - link to my incident https://icm.ad.msft.net/imp/v3/incidents/details/140571669/recommendations

Hi @slan2018 @v-tkmasz ,

It seems that there's some problem about submitting form to sharepoint list.

Could you tell me your PowerApps Version, App ID and Session ID?

Could you describe more clearly about the problem ? (show me more details)

I will report this to my product team.

Hi @v-yutliu-msft @slan2018

Thank you so much for your reply -the situation is getting quite dire.

App ID: 2199a078-6059-435c-acd8-9cff163232d9

Session ID: a1399702-8772-45ee-83ac-3f1c21c32a69

PowerApps version of currently published App is 3.19071.13  - As part of troubleshooting i tried rolling back versions and republishing (but there was no difference) - attached snip with other versions used.

We're experiencing an intermittent issue when a form is being submitted to a SharePoint list. Ocassionally data is not being saved to the list and most of the times we will see the following error message: 'There was a problem saving your changes. The data Source ay be invalid' (snip of error & app attached).

This issue has been ongoing since Tuesday August 13.

I've experienced something similar in May & June - but in those cases it seemed to have been triggered by publishing a new version of the app. At the time rolling back version stopped the issue. It's not the case now.

Please let me know if I can provide any additional details, or maybe we can jump on a quick call?

Hi @Drrickryp !

I am trying to follow your suggestions above. I have Form 1 set to New. On subsequent forms 2-6, what would I change the "Item" property to specifically? Prior I had it as Defaults('SP list name'). Above you mention specifying Form 1 (I believe) in the item property but I'm not sure exactly what to put there.

Hi @slan2018

You are not the first person to encounter this problem and there are many ways to solve it.  PowerApps forms are designed to deal with a relatively small number of fields.  When you have to enter a large number of fields in a single record, it may be better to create your own forms as these will be much more flexible.  Please check out @Meneghino  blog post https://baizini-it.com/blog/index.php/2017/09/28/powerapps-101-create-your-own-forms/ for a flexible way to deal with more complex data entry issues. If you follow his logic, you will also learn a great deal about how PowerApps works by going through the process.
