JSON issue.

"Hi All,

I created a custom connector in Power Apps. This connector sends JSON data with information about VMs in Azure Arc.

I've created a button in Power Apps, and here's the formula I used:

used

UpdateContext(
    {
        test: TEST.GetAzQuery(
            {
                'api-version': "2022-10-01",
                subscriptions: ["xxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxx"],
                query: "Resources| where type == 'microsoft.hybridcompute/machines' |extend UpdateGroup = parse_json(tostring(tags.createdOnDate))
|project ['name'],['resourceGroup'],['subscriptionId'],UpdateGroup"
            }
        )
    }
)

When I use this button, Power Apps monitor indicates that everything is working correctly and the job is successful. I receive the following result:

{
  "duration": 332.69,
  "size": 527,
  "status": 200,
  "headers": {
  },
  "body": {
    "totalRecords": 3,
    "count": 3,
    "data": [
      {
        "name": "BLA2",
        "resourceGroup": "Blabla2",
        "subscriptionId": "xxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxx",
        "UpdateGroup": "10/31/2023 14:15:09"
      },
      {
        "name": "BLA2",
        "resourceGroup": "Blabla2",
        "subscriptionId": "xxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxx",
        "UpdateGroup": "08/18/2023 07:57:09"
      },
      {
        "name": "BLA3",
        "resourceGroup": "Blabla3",
        "subscriptionId": "xxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxx",
        "UpdateGroup": "2023-08-18T09:04:35.5046783Z"
      }
    ],
    "facets": [],
    "resultTruncated": false
  },
  "responseType": "json"
}

Now, I want to take some information from this JSON for example name of my VM's so i decided to create a Label and here i have problem. Can't execute Parse JSON cause

"The untyped object argument to the 'Text' function has an incorrect type. Expected: Text, Actual: object."
I tried so many solutions from another Forums but still I didn't find a perfect solutions.

Any Idea how to resolved my problem?

Given the input that you have, the following syntax will return your VM names (BLA2, BLA2, BLA3). You would obviously replace txtJson.Text with the output of your custom connector.

With({obj:ParseJSON(txtJson.Text).body},
ForAll(
    Table(obj.data),
    {
       Name:Text(Value.name)
    }
)
)

Hi @DevOpsGuy

To set a label's text to the name of the first VM in the JSON array, you'd reference it like this:

Label.Text = test.body.data[0].name

Store the JSON Array: Store the data part of the JSON to a variable or context property.

UpdateContext({vmData: test.body.data});

Access Specific Fields: Now, you can access the fields in a label like this:

// This will set the label to the 'name' of the first VM
Label.Text = vmData[0].name

Handle Collections: If you want to show all VM names, consider using a Gallery or a Data Table to display the collection. You can set the Items property of a Gallery to vmData and then use labels inside the Gallery template to show the properties of each item.
Here's an example for a Gallery's Items property:

Gallery.Items = vmData

Then, inside the Gallery, you would have a label with its Text property set like this:

ThisItem.name

Hi @MudassarSZ365

generally I agree with you but look, when i try to Access specific field i got this output

DevOpsGuy_0-1699366099263.png

and i think that this is my main problem

Can you try and manage your customer connector in an instant  flow and properly Parse the Response to your format
Send the response JSON back to your App and use a Collect, ForAll and Table Function

ClearCollect(AppData, ForAll(Table(ParseJson('Your Instant flow'.Run(API Information)),{Name : name,ResourceGroup......}))

@DevOpsGuy ,

try this

// If vmData is a JSON string, parse it first
UpdateContext({vmData: JSON.Parse(test.body.data)});

// Then you can access the 'name' property
Label1.Text = vmData[0].name;

If vmData is already an object and data is indeed an array, then the following should work without parsing:

Label1.Text = vmData[0].name;

I've tried it as well, but without a happy ending. I'm generally unable to parse this JSON. Now, I'm considering that this problem might be connected to my custom connector. i dont even got a helpful massage from monitor only something like this

{
  "status": null,
  "duration": null,
  "dataSource": null,
  "responseSize": null,
  "controlName": "Button3",
  "propertyName": "OnSelect",
  "nodeId": null,
  "formulaData": {
    "script": "UpdateContext({vmData: ParseJSON(jsonVariable.body.data)});",
    "spanStart": null,
    "spanEnd": null
  },
  "data": {
    "context": {
      "entityName": "Button3",
      "propertyName": "OnSelect",
      "diagnosticContext": {
        "formula": "UpdateContext({vmData: ParseJSON(jsonVariable.body.data)});"
      }
    }
  }
}

Whats more when i use UpdateContext({vmData: test}) where test is my JSON then my variable "vmData" has same parameters but when i add ".body..." then my Variable vmData is blank

Thank you for your advice; it was very helpful. Ultimately, I found the source of my issue, which turned out to be my custom connector. It seems that simply updating the connector is not sufficient, and it needs to be unlinked and then relinked in the application.
