Keep a toggle open

Hello,

I have 4 toggle switches in my form (please see attached screenshot). They all default to "No" / false unless they need to be flipped on to record a project that has been placed on hold, cancelled, etc. The reason I did it this way is that I set the date pickers to default to today's date versus Dec 31, 2001 and didn't want to give people the mistaken impression that their project had been put on hold, cancelled, etc. "today".

So here is what I could use help with. If I toggle a switch to "Yes" / true and fill in the information (e.g. Negotiated By and Negotiated Date), I want the toggle switch to stay on "Yes" / true and keep showing the fields. Right now, the Default setting for the toggle switch control is Parent.Default so it keeps going back to the "Off" setting when I save the form (the Negotiated By, Negotiation Date and other fields retain their value when changed). What If statement can I enter to keep the toggle on if it needs to be activated and what property do I apply it to? Would it go in OnCheck? I'm kind of hoping so since I also see an OnUnCheck property which would be helpful for undoing an On Hold "true" setting when the hold is lifted. I think that is the only 1 of the 4 that would be undone at some point.

Here are the formulas I am using for the Negotiation controls, the rest follow the same pattern.

Form OnSuccess property:

Negotiated By

Set(
varNegBy,
Self.LastSubmit.'Negotiated By'
);
Set(
varNegDate,
Self.LastSubmit.'Negotiated Date'
);

Negotiated By DefaultSelectedItems property:

If(!IsBlank(varNegBy),varNegBy,ThisItem.'Negotiated By')

Negotiated Date DefaultDate property:

If(!IsBlank(varNegDate),varNegDate,ThisItem.'Negotiated Date')

The Visible property of the Negotiated By and Negotiated Date datacards is set respectively to:

toggleNegotiate.Value

Thanks in advance for your help,

Teresa

@tagustin2020 ,

Yes, try re-creating them. I do not use person fields at all - I have a basic knowledge of their structure (they are a "complex" field type)

Thanks Warren. I have an All Hands meeting I am prepping for tomorrow, but I'll get back to the Power App on this and the other issue we are dealing with as soon as possible and will let you know how it goes. Have a nice evening. Teresa

Hi Warren,

I'm working on a different approach to show and hide the Cancelled, On Hold and Percent Complete fields. I was wondering if you could help me with a quick formatting question. I've attached a screenshot of my two dropdown menus which are based on single line of text fields.

How do I convert the text of the Percent Complete dropdown control values so they show as, for example, 25% instead of 0.25. I searched the forum and read through the text and value MS documentation, but couldn't find the answer for how to do this for a dropdown control. I'm sure it is simple, but it is alluding me. I feel pretty sure I have to configure the Default property somehow...

Thank you,

Teresa

HI @tagustin2020 Theresa,

What are the Items of this drop-down?

@WarrenBelz

Hello Warren,

I've attached screenshots of my SharePoint List data types and a portion of the list I am using to create a cascading dropdown effect. Here is an explanation of why I am taking this approach in case you are wondering.

I thought of a different strategy to show and hide the Cancelled, On Hold and Percent Complete fields depending on what Status is selected from a dropdown field. I've created a separate SharePoint list for Status and Percent Complete values since I not only want the Completed By and Completion Date to appear when that status is selected, but also for 100% complete to automatically populate the Percent Complete dropdown.

As you can see from the screenshots, I've created a SharePoint list with two single line of text columns for my Status and Percent Complete cascading dropdowns. I manually inserted 2 dropdown controls over the text fields in my SharePoint form. I did not delete the text fields from the app as I will be writing the values back to my 'Tool Design SharePoint Requests' SharePoint list with the underlying text fields so I can display them in the Home Screen gallery.

To reiterate my original inquiry, I'm wondering how to convert the text of the Percent complete values so they show as percentages (e.g. 25%, 50%, etc).

Thank you in advance for your kind assistance,

Teresa

Hi @tagustin2020 Theresa,

The reason for my question was to see what you were using to populate your drop-down, but also what to use to reference the output. I see now you are using a single line of text for the "number" in the list, so assume you have hard-coded the "percentages"?

To convert to a number and then a percentage you would need something like

Value(YourDropDownName.Selected.Value)*100 & "%"

Hello Warren,

You are correct, my Percent Complete text values are hard-coded in the SharePoint list. My Items property for the dropdown formula is:

Filter('Tool Design Request Status',Title=ddProjectStatus.SelectedText.Value)

Is there a way to combine this with the formula you provided? I don't really understand the concept of wrapping Text in Values and vice versa at this point. Would you mind providing a brief explanation for me?

Thanks,

Teresa

@tagustin2020 ,

Hi Theresa,

Before I get confused here, are you wanting to show percentages in the drop-down and then somehow filter these against the single line of text in the list? If so, what does the list field contents look like?

The formula I gave you simply converts the output of the drop-down to a percentage display.

So are you after a gallery filter formula on both control outputs?

@WarrenBelz

Hi Warren,

I just care about the dropdown display. Everything is writing back to the SharePoint list just fine and the values are showing up in the home screen gallery just fine. It was easy to make the numbers look like percentages in the label in the Gallery since it has a Text property. The dropdown menu doesn't seem as easy to work with.

Thank you,

Teresa

@tagustin2020 ,

Hi Theresa,

I am now quite unclear on what you are trying to achieve - you wanted to convert the values to percentages which are hard-coded in the drop-down - the way to do this is the formula I gave you.

You then asked to combine this with the Status formula you gave but now only care about the drop-down - which one and what are you trying to do with it?
