Launch URL stopped working in a mobile application on Android devices

Button - on Select:

Launch(ThisItem.Link)

The button is in a gallery.

Link - https://.......sharepoint.com/sites/MySite/['Path']

The file is stored in Sharepoint Library.

It works within a desktop application, but fails to launch URL (link to the file)  in a mobile app (Android devices) though it worked previously.

I have tested a button (launch URL) outside of the gallery and it failed too

For a SharePoint file from a mobile device, you need to link the Library to your Power App and then use

Launch('Link to item')

For some reason https://..../sites/MySite/Path  doesn't work in a mobile application (Android) but it works in a desktop application.

By  "it worked previously"  I meant that it worked with the link created by the flow (Create Sharing Link).

This my post correlates with the following post.

When I click on the button/ OnSelect - Launch(ThisItem.Link) nothing is happening in a mobile app but it opens file in a desktop app.

So the only solution that works for my setup is to use  Sharepoint/Get file properties - Link to item in a flow. It works in both mobile and desktop apps. What is interesting is that when I was using Create Sharing Link clicking on the button opened pdf file in a viewer, but when I am using Get file properties - Link it downloads a file in a mobile app.

Can anybody explain me why Path doesn't work in a mobile app and why Sharepoint/Get file properties - Link and Create Sharing Link open files differently in a mobile app?

Hi @lk777 ,

Firstly I can assure you that you can launch SharePoint URL directly (without a Flow) with the syntax I gave. We do this in the field on thousands of photos. You cannot however launch SharePoint Library “external” https:// URL from a mobile device due to the fact that the mobile app resolves all of these anonymously, which of course you cannot do with SharePoint. Whatever the flawed logic you might rightly argue on this, you just need to accept it as there are workarounds.

I am not using a flow to open a file in Sharepoint Library. I had to be more precise when I described my issue initially. Just thought that it was some general issue with URLs. My flow  returns a link to the created file in Sharepoint library. It was working with the 'Create Sharing link' initially but I had to switch to something different due to the security restrictions and my first choice was using Path to the file. But it didn't work in a mobile app and worked in a desktop app. The next and final option that I found was 'File proprties - Link to file' which works in both apps.

Edit:

I am not using a gallery connected to the document library in this case. This part of the application just uploads files to the Sharepoint library and a user taps a button to open a file only to verify upload. Galleries that are used in this part of an app are connected to collections, there is no need to open files in the library after finishing upload and verification. Those uploaded files are processed by the different team of users directly in Sharepoint.
