Hello, I'm currently experiencing issues launching my apps from Excel and Word - when I go to details and copy the app's web link and paste that in an Excel or Word doc I receive the following error in the URL bar https://apps.powerapps.com/error/427
As well as the following visual:
Is there any work around for this? I've never encountered this issue before.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Hello @MikeMitchell @rx1634 @SHD001
What is the version of Microsoft Word? This might be an issue with limitations in the old version or a preset setting that blocks the opening of the URL.
TEST A
Can you please try adding simple URLs like maybe a link to microsoft.com and see if it's opening up as intended?
If this does not work, then it might an issue with the Office app itself. A reinstallation or maybe an upgrade as suggested by @Troubleshoot222 above might be the solution.
If Test A works, please try Test B.
TEST B
Another thing that you can try as remove the parameter from the URL which starts from the "?" character
For example, this is the URL:
https://apps.powerapps.com/play/e/d9474972-5c2d-ecd6-befa-749fde3b1e95/a/55f1b621-20e5-414e-b6a6-728dc3c6e2d3?tenantId=5157e802-9765-432f-94da-32b49d9de07c
then use only this part when you add to Word/Excel
https://apps.powerapps.com/play/e/d9474972-5c2d-ecd6-befa-749fde3b1e95/a/55f1b621-20e5-414e-b6a6-728dc3c6e2d3
If Test B doesn't work, can you please share to me the URL that opens in the browser or the screenshot of the error. That will be my baseline for my next follow-up.

👤 | Hello, I'm still new to Power Platform (since May 2022 👶) but I'm really glad whenever I can help. The more I help, the more I learn. I sometimes record my answers via my channel. I have limited spare time so will only do for ones that can be done in a short period. If my answers/interpretations are wrong, please correct me. |

Hi @cha_cha - I am in the same organisation as the OP and am having the same issue. Our issue with Test A is we have extremely limited customisation options with the programs on our PC. We have no administrative options to delete and reinstall newer/older versions of Word.
This issue is only happening in the Word desktop app (and our version is Word 2016). PDF and Word Online have not got this issue. Seems like it has only been happening fairly recently, since an update to Power Apps in early November. Removing the tenantId does not change the result. The screenshot showed in the OP is the same for me as well and the URL is https://apps.powerapps.com/error/427
While it is likely our organisation has extremely tight firewall requirements, this was never an issue previously. Other links open from Word 2016 fine (e.g. SharePoint).
Hello @lizwharty
Can you please screenshot and share what link is shown when you hover?

Hello @lizwharty
Still guessing possible issue here. Could you please try on adding this link to your word app and click to see if it opens? http://bit.ly/3YixzQh
It's the same link as the one you've shown. I just want to test what's the effect. My current suspicion is that If it's not the firewall, the link might just be too long.

@cha_cha No luck, still the same error. Considering there are other here not from our organisation with the same issue with older versions of MS Word, I'm guessing something has changed on the Power Apps side instead of a firewall, especially considering that pre-November we had no issues doing this.
I have also tried the tests as suggested and trimming the tenant id, etc. A link to htts://microsoft.com works fine. Still the same 427 error when a link to PowerApps launched from desktop Word for Office 16. There is not error when the link is in an Office365 Word document.
