LookUp Formula error

Hi,

I'm trying to link a form ("Return Form") to a previously filled line in a sharepoint list ("Library APP Form").

The goal is when a person writes his/her name, the app searches the sp list lines, auto-fills the name of the book and when the person submits the form, it adds the return date to that same line.

I've used the LookUp formula: LookUp('Library APP Form'; NAME = DataCardValue44; 'BOOK TITLE') but it's not working ("incompatible type for comparison. it is not possible to compare these types: text, control").

Both columns are single-line text, so I don't understand what I'm doing wrong.

Can you please help?

Try this
LookUp('Library APP Form'; NAME = DataCardValue44.Text; 'BOOK TITLE')

Try using DataCardValue44.Text in your formula and it should work better.

The LookUp edit suggest by me and @eka24 will work to generate a valid text response, but it looks like you are using this to populate the Items property of a dropdown? A dropdown is looking for a table of values to choose from, not a single text value. Can you help us understand better what you're trying to achieve?

So the reason I chose a dropdown is because a person can have more than 1 book requested.

In that case, when they insert their name, the "book title" section will let them know the books they have in their possession and choose the one they want to return.

Do you think the formula won't work with the dropdown if there's only one book registered?

In that case, try using Filter() instead of LookUp() to get a small table of all the books your customer has reserved. Filter() returns a table of all records that match the search criteria, while LookUp() returns only the first matching record.

Try putting this statement in the Items property of your dropdown:

Filter('Library APP Form'; NAME = DataCardValue44.Text).'BOOK TITLE'

This should return a list of the books associated with the user's name.

In your Dropdown Items property,

Filter(Datasource,fieldNametoFilter=NameControl.Text)

Select the field which you want to show in the dropdown
