Thank you for taking the time to read my question
I am working on an app that is connected to an on premise SQL db for the first time.
I want to be able to see if an item exists in one of my tables.
I have a Text Input and a Search icon. On the OnSelect action of the Search icon I want to have a LookUp that helps me determine if the code entered by the user exists in the SQL table.
The field I'm using for the LookUp is nvarchar(15). The value in the Text Input is text.
The equal sign has the error and says "Invalid argument type".
.Text is the only option I have.
If(IsBlank(LookUp('[dbo].[tblEpyDG]',[@ProductCode] = SearchProductCode.Text,[@ProductCode])),Notify("Blank",NotificationType.Information),Notify("Found",NotificationType.Information))
How do I resolve this?
Thanks

I HAVE SOLVED IT!!!!
I have not been given the security access to create the connections between SQL and PowerApps. A person in our security team does that. He pointed the connector to the PROD environment instead of the TEST environment... both environments have very similar data. This is why I could not get PowerApps to return the new ProductCodes I was entering! I stumbles across this when I went to the File menu and saw connectors. Then I noticed I could edit it which allowed me to see the settings... but not change them. It's there that I noticed the wrong server name...
This thread got off topic, but above is why the LookUp would not work.
THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!!!
have a great weekend
Try
If(IsBlank(LookUp('[dbo].[tblEpyDG]',[@ProductCode] = Value(SearchProductCode.Text),[@ProductCode])),Notify("Blank",NotificationType.Information),
Notify("Found",NotificationType.Information))

Thank you very much for the reply, however that still underlines the equal sign with Invalid Argument Type.
Try;
If(CountRows(Filter(('[dbo].[tblEpyDG]',ProductCode= Value(SearchProductCode.Text)) > 0,Notify("Blank",NotificationType.Information),
Notify("Found",NotificationType.Information))

had to adjust the brackets a bit...
If(CountRows(Filter('[dbo].[tblEpyDG]',ProductCode= Value(SearchProductCode.Text))) > 0,Notify("Blank",NotificationType.Information),
Notify("Found",NotificationType.Information))
But now I get a more clear error!
Incompatible type. We can't evaluate your formula because the values being compared in the formula aren't the same type. The left value is a Text and the right value is a Number type.
So it seems PowerApps is changing my SearchProductCode Text Input to a number even though my "Format" is set to Text...?
I did some more digging and tried this:
Notify(LookUp('[dbo].[tblEpyDG]',"ProductCode" = SearchProductCode.Text && "Classification" = "GHS_CAN","ProductCode"),NotificationType.Information)
Is that the correct way to refer to the field [ProductCode] in my SQL table or did I reference it correctly by using [@ProductCode]? Maybe that has something to do with it?
Thanks!
If the ProductCode is a textfield,
Try
If(CountRows(Filter('[dbo].[tblEpyDG]',ProductCode=SearchProductCode.Text))> 0,Notify("Blank"),
Notify("Found"))
If you are not sure of the SearchTextbox format, delete it and insert a New Textbox for the search prodectcode.
Can you give a sample of the code

Thanks again for all your help. I really appreciate it.
tblEpyDB.ProductCode = nvarchar(15) in the SQL database
SearchProductCode - Format = Text
The formula you provided is not possible because the number of records in my table is too many for Count() (paraphrased error)
I added a new Text input box and called it tSearch and edited my example. No errors (red lines) but the Notify did not do anything.
I'm not sure what you mean when you say: "Can you give a sample of the code"
Here is the OnSelect code I currently have: If(IsBlank(LookUp('[dbo].[tblEpyDG]',ProductCode = SearchProductCode.Text && Classification = "GHS_CAN",ProductCode)),Notify("Blank",NotificationType.Information),Notify("Found",NotificationType.Information))
The result is now a notification of the word "Blank"
The value I'm typing into SearchProductCode is: 16161622 which exists in my database in column ProductCode
Thanks!
I also just tried this:
Notify(LookUp('[dbo].[tblEpyDG]',ProductCode = SearchProductCode.Text && Classification = "GHS_CAN",ProductCode),NotificationType.Information)
No notification came up. I'm guessing it's not finding the code in my table
just tried this too:
Notify(LookUp('[dbo].[tblEpyDG]',And(ProductCode = SearchProductCode.Text, Classification = "GHS_CAN"),ProductCode),NotificationType.Information)
No notification.
I made a test with:
If(IsBlank(LookUp('[dbo].[tblEpyDG]',ProductCode = SearchProductCode.Text)),
Notify("Blank",NotificationType.Information),Notify("Found",NotificationType.Information))

Thank you so much for testing on your side eka24. I really appreciate it.
I pasted your code in and I still get blank... could it be something wrong with my connector?
Thanks
