Mandatory field based on Condition

Hello All,

If Selected Value is "A" then user has to update any one field Mandatory ("Field_Pass" or "Field_Fail" or "Filed_Count"). Can anyone help on this.

In Short, Its Mandatory to update any 1 below field.

1. Filed_Pass

2. Filed_Fail

3. Filed_Count

How is the selected Value stored? A dropdown or is it coming from a list column?

You could add a screen with a Dropdown or Combo box choices for the Mandatory field.

If(Selected Value = "A", Navigate(ScreenMandatory))

In the dropdown Onchange event Navigate back to the current screen. 

If the Selected Value is coming from a list you would want to change the value with the Onchange event as well.

@turnerj3  The Above solution is something different.

There are 4 Fields in single form. So when user select a Value "A" from a dropdown list in a Field, then user must update any 1 field out of other 3 fields available.

I am going to assume 2 things, first that you have a dropdown which is where the user could select "A" as mentioned in your example, and second that you have a submit button that the user will select once these conditions are met.

First thing to do is find a way to make it obvious that when "A" is chosen from the dropdown list that they now have more work to do to get to a valid state to submit the form. I do this by controlling the DisplayMode but you could use visibility or could use asterisks to denote that they are required now. I will use DisplayMode in my example. The next thing you need to decide is if they can choose one only or more than one of these secondary options. I am going to assume only one as you cant really pass and fail at the same time. Last is to control when the form can be submitted using logic that checks to validate that what you require has occured. For this I will also use DisplayMode.

• I set the DisplayMode on the 3 fields (pass/fail/count) to something like the following:
  • Pass DisplayMode: If(dropdown.selected.value <> "A" Or CheckBoxFail.value Or CheckBoxCount.value, DisplayMode.Disabled, DisplayMode.Edit)
  • Fail DisplayMode: If(dropdown.selected.value <> "A" Or CheckBoxPass.value Or CheckBoxCount.value, DisplayMode.Disabled, DisplayMode.Edit)
  • Count DisplayMode: If(dropdown.selected.value <> "A" Or CheckBoxPass.value Or CheckBoxFail.value, DisplayMode.Disabled, DisplayMode.Edit)
• Submit DisplayMode: If(Dropdown.Selected.Value = "A" And (CheckBoxPass.value Or CheckBoxFail.value Or CheckBoxCount.value), DisplayMode.Edit, If(Dropdown.Selected.Value <> "A", DisplayMode.Edit, DisplayMode.Disabled))

@mmollet 90 % this is what I was looking. Thanks a lot for the explanation. My bad let me add few points clearly.

1. Fields Pass, Fail, Count are Number Fields - User will enter the number of counts.

2. Instead of disabling other two options, Is it Possible to Make all 3 options as Mandatory initially So that if user selects "A" and Updates any 1 Option (example: Pass) then reset of other 2 options (Example: Fail and Count field) should be removed from Mandatory. 

Note: Reason behind is User Must Update atleast 1 field and other 2 fields are optional.

No problem. You would want to use IsBlank(TextInputPass), IsBlank(TextInputFail), IsBlank(TextInputCount) instead of Checkbox.Value if you have number input fields. As for making the logic work how you want to, this is just a matter of modifying what I provided to make it work in the way you need. For example you can change

• Pass DisplayMode: If(dropdown.selected.value <> "A" Or CheckBoxFail.value Or CheckBoxCount.value, DisplayMode.Disabled, DisplayMode.Edit)

to something like this and see if its what you want:

• Pass DisplayMode: If(dropdown.selected.value <> "A" , DisplayMode.Disabled, DisplayMode.Edit)

The above change will make the other checkboxes (or number fields in your case) display when "A" is selected but will now not hide the other two options. The submit button logic should be the same as I used Or operator so it will only require one to resolve to true but will still accept if all three are true.
