Modern Controls - Dropdown not displaying data

Hi, I am trying the new Modern Controls and stumbled upon an issue with the dropdown one. (The regular dropdown works fine). 

In the first dropdown I am using the standard UI selection of items: 

In the second one I use 

Choices([@'Mileage Claim Items'].ExpenseCodeName)

They both have a different outcome - but none displaying the items:

Please try to add the "Value" field in the modern dropdown "Fields" property:

Hey Manish,

Not sure where I need to add Value. When editing it in formula bar get this:

 When trying through GUI there is no value. 

 

There is though on the standard dropdown:

When you pick a dropdown control, you have also to select the data source -> Ignore this request! Do not select a data souce! Just insert your code-example into ITEMS 

Choices([@'Mileage Claim Items'].ExpenseCodeName)

@coolgreetings That worked!! How did you figure that out? I've spent 3 hours trying different things.

Scratch that. It meant the dropdown choices displayed in the form, but didn't populate the Sharepoint list on submit...

I've tested again and all data was insert into my sharepoint list. Please make sure that the manual inserted data source is connected to your power app.

Thank you. 🙂 Days - must have driven you crazy.  I'm still quite new on all this. 🙂

Here are the steps I took: 

So I replaced my classic drop down with a modern drop down in the Power Apps form.

I didn't connect to a data source like you said for the dropdown.

I entered the Items property information.

(See screenshot 1) 

I play the app.

The drop downs display their values. Yay! (see screenshot 2)

I hit the submit button and all is well.

I go to the SharePoint list and only the title comes across from the Power App form. (screenshot 3)
