Multiple Screen Custom SharePoint List Form Does Not Submit Data to the List when I hit "Save"

I have a custom form for a SharePoint List. The list has 20 fields. I have split these fields across 4 screens in PowerApps (see snip below). Each Screen is named "FormScreen1, 2" etc. Each "FormScreen" has an 'Edit" Form. Each Edit form has the SharePoint list as it's datasource. These Edit forms are named "SharePointForm1", SharePointForm1_1" etc. (see snip)

On each Edit Form is a variety of fields from the SharePoint list. I have added an example of what one of the Edit forms looks like (see snips). The fields are nearly all "Multiple Line of Text" or "Choice".

When the custom form is published, and "LIVE", the multiple screens do not all save. For example, when a user is editing an existing item, they may add data into fields on each screen, but only the first two screens actually save. Each EditForm is the same, so I don't understand why data entered into the first two screens works, but not the second two screens. I have included a snip of the formula I used in the "OnSave" formula box. The purpose of this formula is to try to ensure that all four EditForms are submitted everytime the user hits save. Whenever data is entered into the 3rd or 4th screen, the "Save" doesn't work. The fields just remains blank. The second screen almost always seems to work, and 3rd and 4th screen are built exactly the same with same formula, same data-source and fields taken from the same list.

a) Does anyone have any idea why data from all 4 screens doesn't submit when I hit save? Is it something to do with the formula, the amount of screens, the fields, the SharePoint list?

b) If the default "Save" button does not work for multiple screens, is there any other option I have?

I would be very grateful for help. I've built 5-6 of these custom SharePoint list forms, and users are constantly reporting issues that they are entering data and it's not saving.

The patch has worked! It saves all my screens. Thanks very much.

For those interested, I created a button and in the OnSelect Formula, I used the following formula:

Patch(

   'Benefits Realisation',

   {ID:SharePointIntegration.SelectedListItemID},

   SharePointForm1.Updates,

   SharePointForm1_1.Updates,

   SharePointForm1_2.Updates,

   SharePointForm1_3.Updates

)

Replace 'Benefits Realisation' with the name of your data source. This button means that I can save multiple pages with a single click!!

Hi @FarmingBA ,

Firstly, modifying the OnSave of the SharePointIntegration often does not perform as expected and this facility was never designed for multiple forms (that is what Canvas Apps do), but to test if this is the issue, put a button on the screen with the same formula as OnSave and see if that works. This is something I do regularly and simply have OnSave set to false (hence disabling it) and then add RequestHide() to the end of the save code on the button.

Please click Accept as solution if my post helped you solve your issue. This will help others find it more readily. It also closes the item. If the content was useful in other ways, please consider giving it Thumbs Up.

Thanks for your response, Warren. I have just tested this. Results below:

So I added the button and named it "Warren" (see snip). Formula also included in snip. I set OnSave set to false, and this worked. When using the Warren "save" button, the same thing happens. The first two screens save fine, but the data into the second two screens disappears! As a test, I entered the text "Warren" into a text field on each screen. As you can see from the snips, it saved on the first two screens, but not the third and fourth.

@FarmingBA ,

OK -next question are there any common fields between the screens ? If you update (say) a field on Screen 2 and the same field is on screen 3, the form you are submitting on screen 3 could be invalid as it is no longer the current version of the Form. To be honest, I would spend the (once only) 10-15 minutes on the coding and simply Patch the lot.

@WarrenBelz

Thanks. I’ve made certain that there are no common fields across the forms as I thought that might be an issue. No difference.

I would be delighted to patch the lot, but I have no idea where to start with that. I tried adding a button with the Patch formula in the OnSelect formula bar and it didn't work as expected. Each time I pressed the button whilst editing the form, it created around 5 more row items on my list!

Are you able to point me in the right direction?

Hi @FarmingBA ,

Each one I assume is on the same record (the one selected in SharePoint), so you could just do one big Patch referring to the field name and then control (on any of the forms) containing the value needed

Patch(
   SPListName,
   {ID: SharepointIntegration.SelectedListItemID},
   {
      FieldName1: ControlName1.OutputType,
      FieldName2: ControlName2.OutputType,
      . . . . . .
   }
)

This blog of mine should help you with Control output references.

Before you do that, can you please confirm the DataSource and the Item of each of the Forms.
