Multiple galleries item and dropdown collection

Hi all,

I have an app which has multiple galleries. The galleries look like the one below. The dropdown values are not linked to any sharepoint values, the gallery items however are.

I need to collect the items as well as the answers given in the dropdown and save it to a sharepoint list as a new entry.

Is that possible? Many thanks for any help!

Best regards,

Tom

Ok @tupues ,

I will explain the process I posted in my initial response.

A Gallery has content that can be referenced by its name - so going back to my post

ClearCollect(
    Answers,
    AddColumns(
        ShowColumns(
            GalleryBriefing.AllItems,
            "ClientNo"
         ),
         "ChoiceMade",
         Dropdown2.Selected.Value,
         "Comments",
         CommentsInput.Text
    )
)

An item referenced in the Gallery as ThisItem.ClientNo  would be collected as above in ShowColumns - you don't need to reference the data source to Collect it. I also added two columns (AddColumns) based on a drop down and a text input. If these are in the gallery, the individual values will be picked up in each record in the collection. If they were not in the gallery, the same value would be collected for each record.

I have made some notes on your screenshot below.AddShowColumns.png

See if this makes more sense to you.

Hi @WarrenBelz

Sorry for being a bit slow to reply. That did work, thanks!

One last thing: How would I now integrate the other galleries i.e. "GalleryDebrief" and "GalleryGeneral" to be added to the same collection?

Their construction is the same as the "GalleryBriefing"

Many thanks for your continued help!

Thanks @tupues Tom,

This is an easy one if all collections have exactly the same field names and types.

ClearCollect(colNameAll, colName1, colName2, colName3)

You can call these whatever you want.

Cool, thanks.

All works so far.

However I noticed that in the answers column, all answers get the same value as the first answer selected in the dropdown of the respective gallery. That means that if the first answer was YES all the subsequent answers are noted as YES even if they were something different. This is the items for the dropdowns:

Items = If(ThisItem.'Answer Type'.Value="YESNO", ["YES","NO"], ThisItem.AnswerType.Value="Time",["5min","10min","15min","20min","25min","30min","more"], ThisItem.AnswerType.Value="grading 1to5",["1","2","3","4","5"], ThisItem.AnswerType.Value="grading 1to4",["1","2","3","4"] )

It references to a sharepoint list.

Thanks again for your great help!

OK @tupues Tom,

Back a step - I had the original idea working on test app, but must not have saved it and am struggling to replicate. No matter - I have another slightly different process that works and probably makes more sense.

Firstly, you have a gallery and you want two values from it - the question that is text and the answer which is a drop-down. Note the DropDown2.Selected reference will probably be .Value looking at your code, check this as I have used it in the code below.

I have used CommentsInput for the name of the Label in the gallery and DropDown2 for the Answer control and GalleryBriefing for the gallery. Firstly, collect the columns you want in the gallery.

ClearCollect(
    colAnswersX,
    ShowColumns(
        GalleryBriefing.AllItems,
        "CommentsInput",
        "DropDown2"
    )
)

Now add a column to extract the underlying value in the answer and delete the old one.

ClearCollect(
    colAnswers,
    DropColumns(
        AddColumns(
            colAnswersX,
            "Answer",
            DropDown2.Selected.Value
        ),
        "DropDown2"
    )
)

You will then have a collection with "CommentsInput" and "Answer" for each row

Please click Accept as solution if my post helped you solve your issue. This will help others find it more readily. It also closes the item. If the content was useful in other ways, please consider giving it Thumbs Up.
