New record for each selection in multi select field powerapps form

Good day,

I am trying to patch a new record in my sharepoint list for each item selected in a multi select field in the form experience. Basically it should create a new record for each item selected in this field and all other field data remains for all records created. 

I am using the following code which creates the separate records, however, it does not fill out the multi select field with the individual selections:

ForAll(DataCardValue58.SelectedItems,
Patch('Referral/Lead Management',Defaults('Referral/Lead Management'),
{'Referral Interest': DataCardValue58 },
LeadEditForm1.Updates))

Any guidance is appreciated.

Assuming the output of the Combo Box is .Value

ForAll(
   DataCardValue58.SelectedItems As _Data,
   Patch(
      'Referral/Lead Management',
      Defaults('Referral/Lead Management'),
      {
         'Referral Interest': {Value: _Data.Value}
      },
      LeadEditForm1.Updates
   )
)

You have a ForAll loop. Each iteration produces whats called ThisRecord.

So you need to set the Value of the row you want to use the LOOPS value of and set it to ThisRecord.

ForAll(MyControl.AllSelectedItems,

    Patch(Mylist, Defaults(MyList),
    {
       TheFieldThatNeedsThePerSelectionValue: ThisRecord
    }  
)

or Depending on the Control it could be

ThisRecord.Value
ThisRecord.Text or .SelectedText

Thank you for quick response. I believe this is where my issue lies, I get an error saying Referral Interest does not match expected type "table", found type "Error".

I picked that up afterwards and modified it - see if the posted code now works.

Rather unusual what you are doing, but you should be able to manipulate the structure like this

ForAll(
   DataCardValue58.SelectedItems As _Data,
   Patch(
      'Referral/Lead Management',
      Defaults('Referral/Lead Management'),
      {
         'Referral Interest': Table({Value: _Data.Value})
      },
      LeadEditForm1.Updates
   )
)

This does not work either. Why is it unusual? I thought this would have been a more common scenario. Creating basically duplicate records for each selected item in a multi select field.

Yes, but you are putting them back into the same multi-select field and populating this with a single value instead of a Table which it expects (hence the workaround which I tested here with the expected result). Are you getting an error or is it not producing the desired result ? I did not test the second part (Form.Updates), so maybe take that off for the moment and see if the Combo Box items produce the records.

Understood. It is producing an error "Invalid Argument type, Expecting a table Value but of a different schema". "expects a text type and you're using an error type"
