Hi I am very new to power apps, I have to build a simple canvas app that has these roles
1) a role that can see all gpm info(view,update,insert,delete) (owner of application)
2)role = gpm= me I can only view information relating to myself only, not anybody else's and edit,insert,update details about myself only
requirements
1) ability to export data in excel format for a certain date range( year,month,date,week)
2) ability to export data in excel format by gpm, tower
3) show historical info that is already present (GPM, one of the users)
My dataverse table has the following columns
It has total 9 columns that is Computer Name, Product Name, Version, Serial Number, Tower, Director, GPM, Location, Application.
the application is ready but I am not able to implement the requirements, please help me with this, also please guide me on how to implement RBAC in canvas apps in an easy way using only dataverse table, I do not have access to sharepoint.
I need the community's help badly as I have tried a lot of things in the past few days but nothing seems to work.

Hi Ross,
I need to eat lunch, but if no one else has answered I will look at this to help you within the next hour.
Hi @rossbarnes
from what i can see it looks like it fits very nice with a model driven app here, setting up views according to you specs, and configure a couple of security roles to match the security model.
I can try to help more in detail alittle later when im at the PC.

Agree, I dont know what else its supposed to do but setting the RBAC based on your descriptions is pretty straight forward and creating views is easy too.
Is there anything else that maybe we need to know that the total app is supposed to do?
I want to implement it in a Canvas App
Still easy enough. Again I will be at my machine later but steps.
1. Assign those people to roles or groups
2. Go to the Table/View etc and give that role the privs you want (click the circles)
3. Once that is done in the canvas app they will only retrieve the values they are supposed too
But, if you want components of the UI to be visible or invisible disabled etc based on the Roles you created,
then in the App.OnStart or OnVisible you need to query all their roles/groups.
And in that controls Visible/DisplayMode property you need to have a simple if that says
if(LookUp(ThisUsersCollectionOfRoles, "Manager Role").HasRole, true,false)
if(LookUp(ThisUsersCollectionOfRoles, "Manager Role").HasRole, DisplayMode.Edit,DisplayMode.View or DisplayMode.Disabled)
(meaning it has a property that is called HasRole and you set it when you queried all roles fo them and set it to true/false)
Because the UI components wont react automatically to the roles, just the data
Cheers
If you like my answer, please Mark it as Resolved, and give it a thumbs up, so it can help others

As @FLMike say the RBAC is doable by using the example he is suggesting, but the Export function is alittle bit more tricky.
One of the core reason I suggested Model Driven App in the post above is that it supports export to excel nativly via the GUI on any given view.
Canvas apps however don't have any "easy" fix for this, and tend to go to Power Automate to solve, absolutly doable, but involves quite a few steps.
Here is a link to a blogpost explaining the process:
Guide: Export to excel button in POWERAPPS | Devoteam Denmark
Can I get some detailed steps from the beginning since I cannot fully comprehend the solution given by you.
