Offline Power Apps: Patching records when online

I have an app which has a set of data being imported from a sharepoint list. It collects it and displays it and gives the option to add new records (i have hidden offline editing for the time being for ease).

The app is functional and the data is uploading when i get back online. But there are 4 columns out of about 20 that wont work in the patch and when i type them in the app no longer functions in offline mode. The similarity in them is that the columns all started with OData_x00 instead of another abbreviation. I tried deleting one and including a new column and i cant seem to get that to work either.

Rather frustrating when i am this close to finished but the fact i cant get all columns to upload makes it a pain.

Any help is appreciated

Patrick

Hello @WarrenBelz

Thank you for your assistance. I went through every element of the columns that i could find and unfortunately could not get the solution to work. Anything that pulled in with an "OData_x" column name was lost to me.

What i ended up doing in the end was deleting the columns and giving them short acronym titles and then renaming so their internal names were exactly what i had typed. Once i did that i managed to get the information to pull through. Very odd and cannot find a logical reason as to why that was the case.

Thank you for persevering and providing help

Hi @patrickfraser2 ,

Please share the Patch code and the data types of these four columns.

To patch choices column, the right Patch syntax:

Patch('SP list', Default('SP list'), {ChoiceColumn: {Value: "Test Value"}})

To patch LookUp column, the right Patch syntax:

Patch('SP list', Default('SP list'), {LookUpColumn: LookUp(Choices('SP list'.LookUpColumn),Value = "Test Value")})

To patch Person column, the right Patch syntax:

Patch('SP list', Default('SP list'), {PersonColumn: {
Claims:"i:0#.f|membership|" & User().Email,
Department:"",
DisplayName: "",
Email: "",
JobTitle:"",
Picture:""
}})

Hope this helps.

Thanks @v-siky-msft

I have the record being collected and view the collection. I have an edit form which on conncection.connected submit forms else collects data in 'cachereg'

I have a timer running which ontimerends executes the following:

If(Connection.Connected&&CountRows(CacheNewReg)>0,ForAll(CacheNewReg,Patch('DLNG Site Scaffolding Register',Defaults('DLNG Site Scaffolding Register'),{euor:euor,Zone:Zone,Unit:Unit,ndcd:ndcd,t5at:t5at,Scaffold_x0020_Type:Scaffold_x0020_Type,xf9n:xf9n,rf9h:rf9h,'Weight (kg)':'Weight (kg)',Duty_x0020_Type:Duty_x0020_Type,Scaffold_x0020_Cyclone_x0020_Ris:Scaffold_x0020_Cyclone_x0020_Ris}));Clear(CacheNewReg);SaveData(CacheNewReg,"CacheRegister"))

But there are 4 columns that wouldnt patch (Location, Heigh, Dismantle Date and Dismantle WO) - i dont know why but there internal descriptions also all shared a similar internal name for the column OData_x0064 / OData_x0068 / oData_x0070 / OData_x0075 - even though they were all different types.

I tried deleting location and replacing with physicallocal which has a different internal name but it wont work either. Unsure of why since the rest of the data is going in without any drama at all.

They are all text input fields so im not sure what the issue is

Hi @patrickfraser2 ,

This is a bit of a long shot, but if all the field names and field types line up in source and destination, try this

If(
   Connection.Connected &&
   CountRows(CacheNewReg)>0,
   Collect('DLNG Site Scaffolding Register',CacheNewReg);
   Clear(CacheNewReg);
   SaveData(CacheNewReg,"CacheRegister")
)

Afternoon @WarrenBelz

Thanks mate but that was the first thing i tried. Havent had much joy with adding whole collections to the sharepoint lists - always get column mismatch errors for some reason even if i go to the effort of lining them all up with the internal names. But very likely could be linked to whatever is holding out these 4 columns

Thanks for having a look though

No problems @patrickfraser2 ,

If you don't mind a bit of investigative debugging, try collecting the list (you will only get the first 2000 records, but it will suffice for this purpose) and see what is in the data for the target fields.

Morning @WarrenBelz

Thanks for the idea.

The list is already being collected so that i have the data to use when offline.

On opening of the app it collects it and then any new entries collected while offline are collected into anther record. The only common trait between the ones that wouldnt collect was their column internal names. It doesnt seem to be the ones that are grouped or ungrouped or anything else i can see

Regards,

Patrick

Hi @patrickfraser2 ,

I was more referring to having a good look at the data in View > Collections in PowerApps - I have found a few surprises there myself at times. There has to be a logical answer to this (you would hope) and I when I get in the situation you are in, I generally throw all assumptions out the window.

Hi @patrickfraser2 ,

Just checking if you got the result you were looking for on this thread. Happy to help further if not.
