Hey guys, I need your help with something.
I've made an app with a few buttons to Display/Hide a Gallery and a couple of Forms.
When I open the App on my phone basically both screens are hidden and I need to press the 2 toggle buttons to show them
So default (when opening the app) the visibility is set to false (I guess)
In the OnVisible property of the Home screen I've entered this formula (amongst others)
Set(varShowDrillingdetails;true);;
Set(varShowList;true)
In the OnStart property of my APP I've set the formula
Set(varShowDrillingdetails;true);;
Set(varShowList;true)
What am I doing wrong ?
A monitor session should show the two variables being set to true at App OnStart and then if they are being reset to false, where that is happening. This is a workflow issue (not a coding problem) as the Visible on those two controls will reflect the value of the variables with are being set (initially at least) to true, so you need to find out where and when they are being set to false. Also in your testing I suggest you put two labels on the screen with the two variable names to see their values at any point in time.
Hey @WarrenBelz finally I found the monitoring option you wrote about but unfortunately it's difficult to understand the data that is being displayed.
But I think that the problem is in the beginning because when opening the monitoring function the SetProperty and Select for Toggle 2 (or Toggle 2.1) aren't triggered.
When I do trigger the toggle(s) I can see data added to the monitoring session but in the starting of the APP nothing happens
You are only ever going to find this with either a monitoring session or putting labels on each screen with the Variable values and seeing when they change or you can turn on the Advanced Searching and look for the Variable names and where they are used.
@WarrenBelz I've been searching, testing and trying to find it but with no luck so far.
Therefore I want to post the info I found in the search option.
There are 2 categories in the advanced search (I think), Variables and Screens
Variables consist of 2 types; Global and Context. here you can see the result.
And the second part is the Screens; with 2 options APP and Home (the only screen this app has)
In both options/screens I can't find anything strange but the default value when opening the app is false (I've added 2 labels in that screen) the work fine when switching the toggle on/off but default it's false.
But the OnStart property of the App is set to true so im confused to where this problem has originated
Something that jumps out here - you have the same variable name in both the Global and Context Variables, which means the Context item takes precedent on the screen it resides on (so it ignores the Global item and any changes you have made to it). So immediately you hit the screen, the Variable will be false, even though the Global item is true. I always use gbl for Global and var for Context to avoid this. See if this makes sense now.
@WarrenBelz Could it be that you are mistaken ? I only have 1 variable called VarShowList and its in the OnStart property of the APP.
I've changed the name to GBLShowList and then used the search option again, no VarShowList is found only GBLShowList
When I click on the GBLShowList I can see it's set to Toggle2.OnCheck and UnCheck so no fault there I think right ?
Yes - that seems to be correct - I am wondering however why it displayed as context earlier (and that actually would have explained your issue). I can also see you are setting it OnVisible of Container1. There is no other path here other than tracking the changes and ensuring they are correct at the time they are needed.
