I have an app deployed to users for booking one of two electric car parking spaces. It works on mobile, works in Edge, works in IE, but just recently without any changes having been made to the app, it stopped working in Chrome. What I mean by stopped working is that it just doesn't bring any data back over the data connection.
Below is the app when data loads, and without the data it's a screen full of '2's because it can't see any of the bookings.
We have a pretty tightly managed IT estate so I won't be surprised if it's a change in our browser settings that have caused it, however it's only on this one app that it's a problem! In all my apps the data connection is to a SharePoint list, and as far as I can tell there is nothing different about this one.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Ok, so I figured this out, and I'm putting in an update as this could occur for anyone working with a mobile app that matches dates.
What was causing this is the fact that most of us have our phones set up in the right region - UK for us, but most of us don't have our browser regions set correctly - often these are set outside of our control or awareness. So if you're working with dates but not expressly specifying the format, the same app will assume you're using the regional preferences of the device/browser you're running it on.
So mobile was all UK, but my Chrome is set to US, another user's Chrome is set to UK but has IE set to US, etc., which is why we were seeing inconsistent behaviour across users and devices.
The solution is to always specify your region whenever working with dates in PowerApps. That's both when you set a date and when you display/filter on it.
Second screenshot disappeared from my post - below is how the app looks when it has loaded data.
HI @davidstone ,
Do you mean that the canvas app could not work within your Chrome?
Does your app work in Preview mode (via PowerApps Studio for web)?
Please consider take a try to clear cache of your Chrome, then run your published your app again, check if the issue is solved.
Also please take a try to re-create a new connection to your SP list data source from your app, then try your app again, check if the issue still exists.
In addition, please consider take a try to turn off/disable the "Improved app rendering (final validation)" option within Advanced settings of App settings of your app, re-publish your app, check if the issue is solved.
Best regards,
Thanks for posting in the community @davidstone - can you review the above reply and update the thread if it was helpful?
Thank you,
@Anonymous
Thanks for the prompt @Anonymous.
I've tried each of @v-xida-msft's suggestions and still no success.
The app doesn't work in preview mode in the studio either.
I can give a bit more detail. One thing I just tried is adding a new gallery and pointing it to the data source - the data is present.
So to clarify what actually happens in the main gallery... essentially there are 2 spaces available to book in every slot, so each item in the gallery is set to a formula which is the number 2, minus a count of any matching bookings in the data.
The formula is a little complicated - perhaps overly - so I'm going to have another look at it to see if I can simplify it at all.
Ok, I think I've found the problem, but not quite yet the solution.
When my app is looking for bookings, it matches based on the date. In the browser, the date format is mm/dd/yyyy in one of my date columns, while on mobile it's dd/mm/yyyy - and actually I'm comparing them as text not as actual dates.
So I just need to convert both dates to UK format and it should start to consistently match them...

Hi Davidstone,
Ask aside, what condition you use to free an slot when the time is out of range, you know when the slot is available for other vehicle?
I´m trying to do a parking space car, but no luck ! any help will be great!
Cheers
