Open form from a Gallery

My PowerApp is built in a 1 to many fashion where the "Intake Request" is the main record with "Assessments", "Tasks", and "Notes" as the many records connected to the main Intake Request. I have created a screen "Intake Assessment Work Q" that pulls All assessments into the gallery that are not complete. The first (next icon) opens the assessment form up correctly so the user can modify the assessment.

First Icon works...

The problem I am having is creating another (next icon)  to open up the Intake Request record incase the user needs to see the original request with additional information.

@mkAveraHealth ,

I will try to set out the logic I am getting from your posts - please correct anything wrong here: -

  • Parent List 'Intake Request' has a child list 'Request Assessments' with the field 'Ref ID' matching the ID field in the Parent
  • You have a gallery where the Items are from the 'Request Assessments' List (no restrictions on fields available).
  • You are setting the Variable varAssessmentItem OnSelect of this gallery to the record selected.
  • You have a Form with the DataSource "Intake Request"
  • If all of that is true, then the Item of this Form should be what I posted and will display the Parent record of the Gallery record selected - you do not need to change anything else.
LookUp(
   'Intake Requests',
   ID = varAssessmentItem.RefID
)

Please click Accept as solution if my post helped you solve your issue. This will help others find it more readily. It also closes the item. If the content was useful in other ways, please consider giving it Thumbs Up.

Hi @mkAveraHealth ,

What exactly are you trying to do with this

Set(’Intake Requests’ ,varRecord, ThisItem)

normally it would be

Set(varRecord, ThisItem)

to set the (record) Variable to the current item in the Gallery. You would then have the Item of the Form you are opening as

LookUp(
   Tasks,
   ID = varRecord.ID
)

I want the user to be able to open the Request as a form.

The Item of my form is set to varRecord...

@mkAveraHealth ,

Did you try the Item code I posted ? I am not sure Tasks is the list - replace if incorrect.

Yes I did. No go.

When the form opens up, it doesn't display any record. It's blank.

@mkAveraHealth ,

That has to work if varRecord contains the record from 'Intake Requests' you are after. How do you set varRecord and if on a Gallery, what are the Items of the gallery ?

varRecord is set on a Gallery and the items in the gallery is Intake Request information from the Intake Request datasource.

I want to be able to open the Request Form from my Assessment gallery.

mkAveraHealth_1-1673043423700.png

@mkAveraHealth ,

What is the DataSource of that Form ? If it is "Intake Request" and you are setting varRecord on a gallery directly linked to 'Intake Request', (can you please post the actual Items) then the Item of the Form I posted has to work. If you put a Label with ThisItem.ID in the Gallery, do you see the ID of the record ?

The data source is Request Assessment. In that gallery I am setting varAssessmentItem (Ref ID).

mkAveraHealth_0-1673053353695.png

The Request column comes from the Intake Request data source with ID. The first icon works as intended and it pulls up the assessment but the second icon next to the Request, I would like it to open up the Request Form that is associated to this assessment.
