Overlapping time slot When assigned to same employee on work

Hi

I'm working on Canvas base power apps application, I have gallery in gallery multiple column available like WorkingDate, StartTimeslot, EndTimeSlot and Employee assigned column. I have choose to employee name in drop-down and when some employee assigned by twice or overlapping of time slot then I got a pop message these employee already assigned or Overlapping time slot because this employee already assigned on same date and time slot. For example if working date 24 Oct 2021, Star time slot - 9: 00 am to EndTimeSlot - 4 :00 PM so one the same date and on this time slot between same employee not assigned twice. If some try to 11:00 am to 7:00 PM on the same date I just want to showing a message these employee overlapping in time slot. Please change it.

Hi @Moinul3838 ,

Could you please share more details about your scenario? What data source are you using for the App? What is the Items of the Gallery? Also, what is the Items of the Dropdown? Without detailed information, we will only be able to provide you with some general suggestions.

Since you will need the popup get displayed when selecting an employee, you will need to use the OnChange property of the Combo box. Based on the change of Combo box selection, decide whether navigate to the popup screen or stay on current screen:

If(
   CountRows(
           Filter(Gallery.AllItems As AA,
                  AA.ComboBox.Selected.Value = Self.Selected.Value
                  &&
                  AA.WorkingDate = ThisItem.WorkingDate
                  &&
                  Not(
                  ThisItem.StartTime >= AA.EndTime

                  ThisItem.EndTime <= AA.StartTime)
           )
   ) >1,
   Navigate(Screen3)
)

Hope this helps.

Hi @v-jefferni

Thank you for replying,
First I'm using SQL data source, and I'm filtering data on the basis of Delivery_date, I'm using one column IntDeliveryDate on this column value I easily filter following this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4psUHxvI38&ab_channel=PaulO%27Flaherty

Start Date choosing date DeliveryStartDate.Selected.Date

I'm Date converting into Format and storing in a variable
Filter Button OnSelect - Set(varDDDate, Value(Text(DeliveryStartDate.Selected.Date,"[$-en-US] yyyymmdd")));

Gallery Item - SortByColumns(Filter(SQL_Data_Source, IntDeliveryDate = varDDDate ),"DeliveryDate",Ascending)

And I'm also converting Time Format because I'm getting Some different time formats when I pull data from SQL. In Gallery    Label StartTime on property Text- ThisItem.ShiftStartTime I replace by

First(
ForAll(
MatchAll( ThisItem.ShiftStartTime, "PT(?:(?<hours>\d+)H)?(?:(?<minutes>\d+)M)?(?:(?<seconds>\d+)S)?" ),
Time( Value( hours ), Value( minutes ), Value( seconds ) )
)
).Value

This code to showing the time slot.(ShiftStartTime and ShiftEndTime both Text replced by same code)

In this galleryEmp, I'm using the Dropdown column, and In this dropdown connected the Employee table where I pull employee names. but Currently, I'm using static data (like XY1,XYZ2,....).
In this dropdown OnChange property, I'm using Collection when where I collect data in colEmp

Set(
SelectedEmployee,
DropEmpName.Selected.Value
);
If(
DropEmpName.Selected.Value <> "Select",
If(
!IsBlank(
LookUp(
colEMP,
DeliveryDate = DateValue(LabelDeliveryDate.Text) And ShiftStartTime = LabelStartTime.Text And ShiftEndTime= LabelEndTime.Text And EmployeeName = DropEmpName.Selected.Value
)
) ,
Set(varDuplicatePop, true),
If(
IsBlank(
LookUp(
colEMP,
ID = Value(LabelID.Text)
).ID
) ,
Collect(
colEMP,
{
ID: Value(LabelID.Text),
EmployeeName: DropEmpName.Selected.Value,
DeliveryDate: DateValue(LabelDeliveryDate.Text),
ShiftStartTime: LabelShartTime.Text,
ShiftEndTime: LabelEndTime.Text
}
),
UpdateIf(
colEMP,
ID = LookUp(
colEMP,
ID = Value(LabelID.Text)
).ID,
{EmployeeName: DropEmpName.Selected.Value}
)
))
);
If(DropEmpName.Selected.Value = "Select",
Remove(colEMP,LookUp(colEMP,ID = GalleryEmp.Selected.ID))
);

I'm showing the pop message on the same screen and I'm using Duplicatepop variable is true when my condition Set(varDuplicatePop, true)

But ShiftStartTime and ShiftEndTime is Text in my collection So that's why I can't compare conditional formula on it's showing Error.

DeliveryDate and WorkingDate is same column(Notes)

First I want to show pop message when Employee assigned twice on same day or  Overlapping shift on same day and after that I when I clicked Cancel button I want to Reset only this Dropdown , but still showing value

1. Filter data from SQL directly1. Filter data from SQL directly2. dropdown static data using2. dropdown static data using3. Override Timeslot pop message3. Override Timeslot pop message4. Collect data in collection showing format4. Collect data in collection showing format5. Explaining What I want required5. Explaining What I want required

Please let me how to convert Time 2:00 AM/PM into number

It's Showing same Error,  When I directly pull data from SQL Time is showing some different format.

How to Only Time to change into number format or some other Logic  ?

Time slot format when pulling data from SQLTime slot format when pulling data from SQL

I tried your logic on dropdown OnChange propertyI tried your logic on dropdown OnChange property

Hi @Moinul3838 ,

There are two questions:

First, in Gallery you will not be able to reset or clear the Combo box of a single row, all those not saved values would gone if reset the Combo box.

Second, you could use TimeValue() to convert string to time values,

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/canvas-apps/functions/function-datevalue-timevalue#...

e.g.

TimeValue(ThisItem.ShiftStartTme)

So:

If(
   CountRows(
           Filter(Gallery.AllItems As AA,
                  AA.ComboBox.Selected.Value = Self.Selected.Value
                  &&
                  AA.WorkingDate = ThisItem.WorkingDate
                  &&
                  Not(
                  TimeValue(ThisItem.ShiftStartTime) >= TimeValue(AA.ShiftEndTime)

                  TimeValue(AA.ShiftEndTime) <= TimeValue(ThisItem.ShiftStartTime))
           )
   ) >1,
   Navigate(Screen3)
)

Hope this helps.

ShiftStartTime And ShiftEndTime data not showing or not pulling from SQL table when I'm using TimeValue() function or some related time functionShiftStartTime And ShiftEndTime data not showing or not pulling from SQL table when I'm using TimeValue() function or some related time function

Thank You Sir!

Hi @Moinul3838 ,

Here is a blog which is talking about the issue, for your reference:

https://powerapps.microsoft.com/lt-lt/blog/working-with-datetime-values-in-sql/

If you are not using datetimeoffset, you can try:

DateAdd(ThisItem.StartTimeShift, TimeZoneOffset(ThisItem.StartTimeShift), Minutes)

Hope this helps.

Hi @v-jefferni

Not Working this functionNot Working this function

Not working because I'm using in SQL column ShiftStartTime datatype is [time](7)

Datatype in SQL Column ShiftStartTime and ShiftEndTimeDatatype in SQL Column ShiftStartTime and ShiftEndTime

Not Working function :- DateValue(), DateTime(), DateAdd()

By default ShiftStartTime & ShiftEndTime showing format(Text) in Power apps

Not working because of when I pull this ShiftTime in my Power apps it's auto converted into Text Format

Default ShiftStartTime and ShiftEndTime showing format when using without any function, ThisItem.ShiftStartTime & ThisItem.ShiftEndTimeDefault ShiftStartTime and ShiftEndTime showing format when using without any function, ThisItem.ShiftStartTime & ThisItem.ShiftEndTime

After that I'm converting into Time Format using this formula

First(
ForAll(
MatchAll( ThisItem.ShiftStartTime, "PT(?:(?<hours>\d+)H)?(?:(?<minutes>\d+)M)?(?:(?<seconds>\d+)S)?" ),
Time( Value( hours ), Value( minutes ), Value( seconds ) )
)
).Value

But Now required to this text value converted into Number, If converted then I used easily conditional formula mention in your code.

Thank you!

Hi @Moinul3838 ,

So.. there is another blog for Time data type:

https://powerapps.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/working-with-time-columns-in-sql-server/

    Time(
        If(
            IsBlank(Find("H", ThisItem.Time)), // Check if there is an hour component
            0, // If not, the value is zero
            Value( // Otherwise, take the substring between 'PT' and 'H'
                Mid(
                    ThisItem.Time,
                    3,
                    Find("H", ThisItem.Time) - 3))),
        If(
            IsBlank(Find("M", ThisItem.Time)), // Check if there is a minute component

            Value( // Otherwise take the substring between the rest of the value

Hi @v-jefferni

Yes It's converted into Text Can you Tell me How to compare it.  Both Time ShiftStartTime & ShiftEndTime

I tried it your formula but I don't where I'm putting wrong function because in your code

Not(
                  TimeValue(ThisItem.ShiftStartTime) >= TimeValue(AA.ShiftEndTime)

                  TimeValue(AA.ShiftEndTime) <= TimeValue(ThisItem.ShiftStartTime))
           )

In this line can you help me out which function or parameter suitable to compare it.

Thanks!
