Patch Error when opening a Gallery item screen

Hello everyone 🙂

I have a problem with an OnChange function in my current project.

It says that there is a network error with the patch function.

Whenever a user changes the content from the combo box it should submit the form to my SharePoint list.

It worked fine until a while ago and I'm not sure why I get the error now.

Can't I use the submit function with OnChange or what am I missing here?

Hi @Ariini  - is the data source for your Choice column (where your Choices come from) the same as the data source your patching into?

Yes its the same data source.

Im not sure if this helps but I tried to monitor it during runtime and I got the following

Im not sure why it starts the patching when I open the process.
The function is on the OnChange.

It says that there is a conflict while saving cause there are changes made by another user.

But I can say for certain that no one was using the App at the same time.

@Ariini - I am out of ideas to identify the root cause. Peculiar given it was working before.

Have also tried removing the data source and adding it back in?

I have a mask similar to this one but its working so maybe Ill just try again.

But I really dont understand how this error occurs in the first place.

Is there anything I have to look out for?

Hi @Ariini ,

I would advise against the use of SubmitForm in the Onchange property since it has the potential to excessively spams SharePoint and cause these types of issues. If you insist on a auto-save function, implement something like in Power Apps studio: autosave every 2 minutes with a timer and an indicator for unsaved changes.

Have you tried to just write a custom patch statement instead of submit form? This will give you a more defined error if it doesn't just work to start with. You can just add a few columns at a time and figure out which if any columns are causing an issue. 

UpdateContext({ lastPatch: Patch(YourListName, Defaults(YourListName), {field1: value, field2: value, etc...}) })

The submitform just uses MSFT-written logic with patch statements so skipping all of it and just patching using the form inputs might help you get a better idea of what is happening in this case. Also can use the monitoring part of Power Apps to see what values are going where while you do the patch test.
