Patch lookup in New Form

So I have a New form that creates a new Contact in a list in SharePoint.  The issue I am having is that I have a lookup for the Company that is pulling from another list in SharePoint and when I submit the form to create a new record this field is not filling in.

I have tried a Patch but it seems to have an issue with the field that I need to set the value in the lookup to.

Here is what I have that is not working

The lookup is coming from the LPS Account list and we are wanting to update that field in the Contacts Industrials SharePoint list.

When I just do a submit form I get everything but that field.  Do I need to change the field in the Contacts list to a single line of text so that it will stick?  I have a text field already called Company_Text but it is not recognizing it either in the Contacts list.

Company0 is the lookup column in the Contacts list.

I am stuck and would appreciate someone telling me what I am doing wrong.

I have my default for the company name: ThisItem.'Company (Company0)' and update: DataCardValue79.Selected

@Drrickryp so it will only allow me to get to the .selected, when i try to do the next field I want to select it does not appear in my list?  I dont understand why a datacard that I have looking up the information from is causing me so much hassle.  I just want the selected value to update the Company_Text field in my SharePoint list, I have done a refresh and it is still not appearing.

I created a new app in SharePoint that used a Choices type column for ReferredBy.  This is the result. It differs from the previous screenshot in that when a Choices field is used, the control created in the form holds a combobox with the Items property as indicated.  The Update property now is submitting a record instead of a value.

The difference is subtle.  In the screenshot above the zip column in SharePoint is a single line of text (SLOT).  In the screenshot below the SharePoint column is a choice type.  A choice type column stores a record while a single line of SLOT type column stores a single text value.

@Drrickryp Yeah that is not working either, I have the update set to DataCardValue105.Selected and my Item is SortByColumns('LPS Accounts',"Title" , Ascending), when i try to make the change you want it errors out

Hi @Dorinda ,

Since you would like to update a LookUp column with a default combo box, and sort the account name in ascending (by the way it was the SortByColumns formula causing the issue),  please modify the Items of the LookUp combo box to:

Sort(Choices([@'CONTACTS INDUSTRIAL'].Company0),"Title",Ascending)

With the default settings of the NewForm, you will be able to create new items with company selected in the combo box.

As in my test, items in the combo box would be sorted in ascending by default, could you please set the combo box Items to Choices([@'CONTACTS INDUSTRIAL'].Company0) then share a screenshot with us? Leave first letter in it is OK.
