No sorry , I still need your help please.

I’m just confused on how to tie all these formulas together to populate on the same line on the SharePoint list.  So scan two barcodes , two manual entry’s to populate on the same line?

ive should the flow of the app above to give you an idea.

and here is my Formula :

Patch(Homebase,Defaults(Homebase),{Title:"Entry",Item: BarcodeScanner1.Value,Name:LookUp(Employee na WhoScanned:User().FullName, 'Date and Time': Now()});Navigate('Employee Scan Complete',Fade)

Thanks again.

Hi @Sahara22 ,

To stop us going in circles here, can you please clearly set out

  • The Field Names in SharePoint you need populated
  • The values you need in each of these and if applicable where you are getting that value from and when

Hello, @WarrenBelz , Sorry for the confusion:

Sharepoint list : Homebase

Field Names:

(All single line text)

WhoScanned

Date and Time

Employee Number

Name

Zone

Crew Number

Equipment Number

* I do have a "Title" field that I just have it putting in text "Entry" but I have that hidden and I read that this one has to be accounted for in a formula and can't be deleted .

Values:

WhoScanned: (user using app)

Date and Time: Now()

Employee Number: (Through Barcode Scan)

Name (Through Lookup formula, Another SharePoint list named "EMPNAMES" as the source data to match with "Homebase" column Employee Number . The "EMPNAMES" Sharepoint  List has the EMPNAME field (Column that has the list employee names that I need to populate in the Name field in the "Homebase" list ) and EMPNUMBER (That has there Employee number to help locate there name and patch is in my "Homebase" list.

Zone: A text that the user has to select manually . There is a total of 5 choices: Super Zone, Zone 5 , Ozone, Spare, Unknown

Crew Number:  A value (number) that the User will have to pick between 0- 40 through manual entry or slider, whichever is easier)

Equipment Number: (Through Barcode Scan)

And that's it. Like I mention I just need help to tie all this together that Each session recording this information is inputed on the same line then go back to the home page and scan the next employee and then the next... etc.. on each individual line.

I hope this Clarifies more better for you.

Thanks again.

@Sahara22 ,

I have assumed some field names here and also that you have two barcode scanner controls (one for the equipment and the other for the Employee). I also have to rely on you to interpret the intention here and apply it to your controls (I cannot write this exactly correct for you).

Patch(
   Homebase,
   Defaults(Homebase),
   {
      Title:"Entry",
      WhoScanned:User().FullName,
      'Date and Time':Now(),
      'Employee Number':BarcodeScanner2.Value,
      Name:
      Lookup(
         EMPNAMES,
         YourEmpNoField=BarcodeScanner2.Value
      ).YourEmpNameField,
      Zone:YourZoneField.Text,
      'Crew Number':YourCrewNumberTextField.Text,
      'Equipment Number': BarcodeScanner1.Value
   }
)

@WarrenBelz  Thank you for the very fast reply.

I will try this and see how it go's.

Just to clarify , Am I applying this to my first barcode scanner ? (OnScan then the Patch forumula you have provided?) also do I have to put this twice, (for each barcode scanner?)

Thanks again so much!

@Sahara22 ,

You would need to put it on the last thing the user does in all the sequence of scanning and completing field values, so if the last thing is scanning the second barcode, then it needs to be on the OnScan of that control.

You may also need some error checking here and make sure none of the required values are blank before doing the Patch. This is more a logic than a coding exercise and you know your app way better than me, so you need to make sure you have all the values before Patching.

@WarrenBelz

Thanks again for your help. After doing some little tweaks I have came to the following formula:

Patch(

   Homebase,
   Defaults(Homebase),
   {
      Title:"Entry",
      WhoScanned:User().FullName,
      'Date and Time':Now(),
      'Employee Number':BarcodeScanner1.Value,
      Name:
      LookUp(
         EMPLIST,
         EMPNUMBER=BarcodeScanner1.Value
      ).EMPNAME,
      Zone:Radio1.Selected.Value,
      'Crew Number':Slider1.Value, 'Equipment Number ':BarcodeScanner2.Value
   }

);Navigate('EquipScan Complete_EMP', ScreenTransition.Fade)

-After Running this I have two Errors that I can’t figure out:

1)

The function ‘Patch” has some invalid arguments

Location

BarcodeScanner2.OnScan

2)

The type of this argument ‘Name’ does not match the expected type ‘Record”.Found type ‘Text’.

Location

BarcodeScanner2.onScan

Also, after running this on the app my SharePoint list shows nothing and dose not navigate to the next screen “EquipScan Complete_EMP” and just keeps scanning only.

Thanks again.

@Sahara22 ,

If Name is a Person field, please get rid of it and add a Text Field with a different title - then Patch to that and it will work.

Thank You so much @WarrenBelz !! It worked!! 😁

The last thing I'm going to bug you for is, since now everything is writing on its own line each time I scan employee , When I come to scan the next employee, the values of the last employee is saved. Is there anyway I can "Re- Set" everything every time I go on the home page and start a new entry?

Thanks again so much, You've been a life saver!

Hi @Sahara22 ,

You can use the Reset Function on each control you want cleared.
