Patch to image column not working on new app. Works on older app though.

Hey everyone,

 

I created an app to capture wiring diagram images. the image/s go to a image column in a sharepoint list. But none of the 4 images will patch. Below is the schema.

 I have used this same method before on a different app and the images patched fine. I've tried only patching 1 as well with no success. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I was facing exactly the same issue as you (existing app and sp list works fine, new app and new list not working no matter what) and went through the same troubleshooting steps with the same results.

Someone on another post with the same issue mentioned something about Chinese characters when creating the column name and when they did it in English it started working (this thread). That got me thinking...

 

My column was called 1. Signature so I changed it by removing the space, then the dot then the number - issue persisted. Then I recalled that the Field name in a SP list isn't always the same as the displayed column name (List settings > hover over the column names > url appears showing field name). Mine was _x0031__x002e_x0020_Signature. You can also look at the DataField and DisplayName of the DataCard of your form to see the full name. I think all these extra characters are the issue but I have no idea why.

 

I created a new column with one word, no characters or spaces and voila! It worked! See my before (which wasn't working) and after (which now works).

Both ways of patching also work as they should.

You need to submit the Form (or Patch FormName.Updates ) to save Image fields (the same as attachments) as the control does the work.

I have tried the form route. Same result. Everything patches except the images. See the image below. Like I said I have another app I made maybe 2 months ago that uses this same method and works fine. I'm scratching my head here. I'm also getting 0 errors from Powerapps.

UPDATE: I have tried creating a new SP List, won't work. I tried connecting the SP List to the app I made before, won't work. I don't get it. I tested my other app to make sure it wasn't an update and it worked fine. Is there a setting in the List that I forgot to change? I didn't think you needed to change any.

You might go back and re-test your old app. SubmitForm() certainly should work if you have Add Picture controls in your Image fields.

I retested the old app and it's working fine. That's why I'm so flustered. Doesn't make sense.

Has anyone seen this issue before? My older app still works fine patching an Image Column. But the new app will not do it for some reason.

Summer of Solutions | Week 4 Results | Winners will be posted on July 24th

We are excited to announce the Summer of Solutions Challenge!   This challenge is kicking off on Monday, June 17th and will run for (4) weeks.  The challenge is open to all Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot Studio & Power Pages) community members. We invite you to participate in a quest to provide solutions in the Forums to as many questions as you can. Answers can be provided in all the communities.    Entry Period: This Challenge will consist of four weekly Entry Periods as follows (each an “Entry Period”)   - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 17, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 23, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on June 24, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on June 30, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 1, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 7, 2024 - 12:00 a.m. PT on July 8, 2024 – 11:59 p.m. PT on July 14, 2024   Entries will be eligible for the Entry Period in which they are received and will not carryover to subsequent weekly entry periods.  You must enter into each weekly Entry Period separately.   How to Enter: We invite you to participate in a quest to provide "Accepted Solutions" to as many questions as you can.
